I'd say that one-line summary of what he was saying was pretty accurate.
Possibly, but why make out it is a quote--as the op has--when he didn't say that? This is especially so when one choose's not to highlight: "but I am there for the team and I will try and give my best for them." That sounds to me like he's not keen but willing to give it a go.
If you come to a fork in the road, take it. |

Do get being so pc about it. So I used quote mark wrongly. The main point is he see himself as a midfielder, not a defender.

I agree with you but if you look at the two games where he did play as a Rcb , it was two of our best in terms of possession and retention of the ball. Yes Luka, made the mistake for the goal but to play possession you need all your defensive players comfortable on the ball. It's not unusual to see a defensive mid in the backline Man City have used Fernandinho and Bayern Munich have used javi Martinez. I think he could be deployed there unless a Chambers is signed within the next week or so. But then you lose one very good proper centre back. Why would anyone put a midfielder in place of a proper centre back? If one of those three get injured and we haven't signed another then yeah maybe but He needs to be in midfield in place of Puncheon. If he's not its just a total waste of a midfield spot.Luka and Cheek are both clever in their movement and vision, good tacklers and very good passers and Puncheon is nowhere near their standard. To have him infront of Luka, Cabaye and Cheek would be a complete mystery to me.

Hopefully, this is just FDB experimenting in the friendliest - he has certainly given lots of kids a run out. In my opinion, Luka was more influential than anyone (even Sakho) in keeping us up. He is confident on the ball and cynical enough to stop the opposition play. He would be the first CM for me whatever formation.

Thought the back three looked solid. Couple of times he seemed to be giving Townsend dogs abuse for not tracking back. Which to be fair is Townsends weakness. Obviously with all the rumours swelling we'd think he won't be starting there once transfer buisness is finished. But most likely the best fit for the time being. Although I would like to see how the team plays with him in midfield. Imagine him and RLC would BOSS it.

Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |
