Ive seen a few Ajax games over the years and saw a young Van De Wiel about 4/5 years ago. Him, with a young Christian Erikksen were a class above the rest. I'd go a far as saying he was world class. Would be better suited to FdB's 343 formation as gets forward better than Ward but I'd be surprised if we could sign a player of his quality. Sounds like it's not happening anyway

Sounds like it's not happening anyway I'll be more shocked if we don't sign a right wing back than if we do. Apparently he's available. I can definitely imagine he might be signed. But hey who knows.

Another one of our "links" gone .....CAGLIARI SIGN VAN DER WIEL Cagliari have signed Holland full-back Gregory van der Wiel from Fenerbahce for an undisclosed fee. The Dutchman has been in Sardinia the past few days finalising the deal, and he has now put pen to paper on a three-year contract. A club statement read: “The Dutch player arrives from Fenerbahce and has agreed a three-year contract with the club. “With van der Wiel, the first Dutch player in the history of the club, Cagliari Calcio acquire a first class international player with a strong personality."
