Only ever been to one pre-season friendly. Never again. Years ago, away to Welling Utd. Took the day off work because CPFC were coming to play my local team (well them, Dartford or Erith & Belvedere were relatively equidistant). Baking hot day and a waste of an afternoon's potential drinking time. Gave up mid-way through the 2nd half; nipped into Danson Park next door to play pitch and putt.

You should still go........ The ground is in the town centre with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops near by.
Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

If any Maidstone fans are reading this (unlikely), I'm just kidding. I have a lot of respect for non-league football and wouldn't ever take the mickey out of a non-league team. Except Dover. They are a bunch of c**ts.

I've been to the Crabble Athletic Ground. Told this story before, but when they came down to Leylands Park their chairman flounced about moaning at what a tin pot club we were in a loud voice, and how much bigger Dover are as a club. Evidently when Palace played Dover in the FA Cup they must've done the same because he appeared in a local Dover newspaper complaining at Palace acting like the big boys when they came to visit Crabble. I nearly had a fist fight with him as well because he was moaning at the ref about a yellow card not being given for a foul in the first half of the game. He moaned for an hour before I told him the ref was unlikely to change his mind an hour later and he got proper stroppy. Fat little pig. He reminded me of Den Perry from Phoenix Nights. I mean he probably had a point about the relative size of the clubs. Not just probably, of course Dover have better facilities. But there's such thing as being a bit courteous on your travels. He was on a mission to upset people and laud it over folks. Really not a nice bloke. Still, got a taste of his own medicine for a bit.

Maybe this wasn't his intention at all.Maybe just a bit of banter with 'Home' supporters in response to what they had to say ? Could have been just harmless banter with smiles all round ?

You sure know how to live Well it was either pitch and putt or the Nag's Head over the road, except the previous time I'd been in there, there was a full-on pub brawl. The only one I've ever seen. Anyway, Danson Park was landscaped by Lancelot 'Capability' Brown, so it was at least a little bit classy. I don't think he did the pitch and putt though.

Yep that pub is still there next to a Morrison's now and there's a big Tesco there. Could do a weeks shopping to pass the time I suppose.
