Older people will remember us signing a pair of Chinese players that couldn't speak a word of English yet they worked out well for us.

Suggesting that we shouldn't buy someone because he's Spanish is a daft response when the Premiership is littered with foreign players (and managers) that have little or no English

This is the point I'm trying to make, I lived in a foreign country and knew little of the language especially at at young age. If we bought 2 players from Spain, that know each other it's easy for them to settle. It's a risk of a small budget, maybe if we bought 2 players from Barca it might make munir settle.

All for buying two players from Barca !

Purring at the thought of being a finishing school for Ajax and Barca players...

Both were very versatile players - able to play in a few positions.

'Fan' must be well into his 40s - I remember Lennie Lawrence signing him for Cardiff. 'Sun' was a few years younger.

I'd imagine if we signed him he play as one of the front three and be a starting XI player.

At £15m my gut said it was a good buy. €25m is a fair whack more and to be fair we'd probably be better off spending it elsewhere.

Maybe a bid of £17m would test there resolve. Think that's about €20m?

Probably to much though. Rather we play RLC up top and spend the money on CB and WBacks.

And a keeper!

I seem to recall we played them in a second tier lunchtime game against the blades in front of a worldwide tv audience of about one billion
