Centre backs are very injury prone and collect lots of cards,I think four c.b.'s and a utility defender are required.

Finally a sensible Palace fan. We already need 4 or 5 players. Why would we weaken our squad to then replace with 2 more risks. One thing you can guarantee with Benteke is he will score at this level. It's all about opinions isn't it. I really hope I'm proved wrong and Benteke flourishes under FDB, but having seen the way he struggled at the end of Pardew's "transition" experiment, I have concerns. The thread asked who would be best to sell, and considering the style of play I expect us to adopt, and the money we could demand for him, I consider Benteke to be an option to move on. Chelsea and City tend to buy some of the best young strikers in Europe and then don't play them. I think people soon forget how good some of these young second string players actually are.

Benteke has already mentioned took time for him to get used to having less possession. Cos we play counter attacking football. Whenever he plays for Belgium they played pass and move. As did Liverpool whenever he played. As he did also with villa. Yes they popped it up to him a few times but villa are certainly not famous for direct play. So hell be absolutely fine

Not to random parts of his body but just drilled to his feet when there was nobody in front of him blocking the pass. He would be an option 6 times before it was knocked around looking for a runner to collect a pass. I suppose Rogers signed him and not Klopp so wasn't going to adapt to one player, but still, ignore a dangerous player for possession in front of 11 players?

Under AP AT YC and CB were well below their best all top class players. FDB will get the best out of them i have no doubt about that.

I disagree with that bit. What you have to realise is Benteke had been at Liverpool for a season where he played a bit part and most of his limited minutes were from the bench. The first half of the season compared to the second half were two different Bentekes. He got match fitness, match sharpness and confidence back which as much as we'd like to say, he's a professional footballer so should turn it on instantly, just doesn't happen and takes time. I fully expect Benteke to have a better season, having had a full season under his belt last year playing regularly. It's the same with Begovic, I would expect he'll be a tad rusty for half the season at Bournemouth having sat on Chelsea's bench for 2 years. Agreed John especially the Begovic paragraph.

There is no Universe in existence where Kelly sells for £6m and McArthur for £8m. Also McArthur is a keeper, not in the sense he saves goals (although he does do that), but in the sense that it would be utter madness to sell him.

I can't see Kelly fetching 6m but mcarthur could easily get 8m , what we paid 2 season ago.

Sorry let me be clear, what I meant was, if Kelly is worth £6m, McArthur is worth way more than £8m. I reckon for Kelly's experience he's worth the 6. Contract length remaining aside I actually think it wouldn't be worth us selling McArthur for anything under £15m upfront, and even then, have a younger, cheaper version of him ready to come in.

IF de Boer DOESN'T RATE them :- we should sell j.williams, mutch, Ward , Cabaye, Sako, Mcarthur, Chungy Of course we need some depth first before considering sell them. If the manager doesn't trust these players. It's better to get players that are comfortable in this style.
