We got good service but we need to move on. Too much sentiment in football. 12m for someone who has 12 months left. Crazy not to sell. But I love mcarthur, as long as a adequate replacement found. I don't see the drama.

No way, we saw what happened when we sold Jedi, we were woefully short of cover in the middle of the park. We need a 25 of players who can all do a job. The fat we want to trim are people like Lee and Sako who don't ever contribute to the squad. MacArthur can still do a job and he proved this as he had his most productive season with regards to goals and assists last season. No one wants sako and lee. If another player comes in. Where the big deal. If we bring in a player that starts in the first team. Then he better than Jimmy mac. Edited by GladAllOver27 (01 Jul 2017 10.45pm) Edited by GladAllOver27 (01 Jul 2017 10.46pm)

Macca was a great player and it's a shame of the injury. You gotta be cruel in business and are business is to have the best possible squad we can. Sadly that means selling and re investing the money towards a better replacement.

Players that fight for the team, throw there body's on the line, that is who we need. Jimmy mac is one of those, we see to many teams struggling down at the bottom because the players don't have the fight in them.keep him , because when we need battelers you can count on James.

We'd be mad to reject 12 million. I do love McArthur and hope that his poor form at the end of last season isn't an indication that he's never going to be back to his best after the injury.

What's the point of an academy then. Yes the academy needs restructuring, how will we ever produce the next Zaha. If these players aren't given a shot. Zaha was given a shot because he is an excellent footballer and even then was a standout player. Same with Moses and Clyne. They play because they are good enough. It was not because they were academy kids and we were doing them a favour at the expense of playing someone better. It amazes me how short people's memories are. He was a standout player before he was injured and was the first name on the team sheet through 2 managers. People are suggesting we should 'risk' selling him to upgrade. What happens if we don't get an upgrade? We have sold a warrior who absolutely buys in to the team ethic and spirit in the hope of bringing in someone better who could be a flop a la Flamini. Also according to every source in the club he is a class act and one of the most likes blokes in the squad as well as being in my opinion a very tidy player. A few Jimmy Macs when our backs are against the wall will always help. Edited by coulsdoneagle (01 Jul 2017 11.11pm)

Absolute hogwash all this £12 Mill bid. Fake news, just like that instigated by the 'Hard Left' on social media to discredit the Conservatives.Disgraceful but not surprising. Going back to McArthur, he came on as sub for Scotland in the 2-2 draw with Englnad but I don't recall him touching the ball once. Edited by Willo (02 Jul 2017 12.12am)

Edited by Willo (02 Jul 2017 12.12am) Is this a new thing now - using football threads to bang the drum for the Tories? As for McArthur, the new team is clearly going to have to have a good look at him now and work out what his long-term fitness is likely to be. This back spasms thing seems very peculiar and you'd need to be some sort of expert or doctor to work out whether his recent poor form is related to that and if so whether it might go away. Until we know the outcome of that it seems pointless to speculate and I can't see anyone coming in in the meantime with a price that doesn't assume he's goosed.

I have a lot to say about the shenanigans on social media but I will leave that to the political threads. Let's get back to McArthur. Edited by Willo (02 Jul 2017 12.52am)
