Tottenham turn to j.king - according to this report they need to recoup some funds after already splashing out 50m including Defoe contract package Fair enough. I'm not saying that Bournemouth have definitely fallen foul of FFP, just that there's not a lot to deter them or anyone else. I don't particularly begrudge any club doing it. It's sort of cheating but at the same time it's more of an exploitation of an under-punished system.

He reminds me a bit of Barry Bannan. Lets first see how he pans out at Watford before calling it cracking business..... Originally posted by Willo
Not one to be running, heading and tackling all over the pitch. But is a playmaker who finds his man and rarely wastes a pass.Good footblling brain to match his technical ability and he takes free kicks over a wall. Was out for 8 months last year with a serious knee injury. If Ake has gone for £20 million then the board need to realise times have changed and despite our spend in January they need to dig deep to support the new boss. We all know the squad is thin, not just in 1 or 2 places but potentially in 5 or 6. If we don't back FDB we could find ourselves with a very good manager completely thrown in at the deep end without the tools to do his job.

As Alex1991 says in his last post, times are changing. £30m is bloody steep, but in my humble opinion, it's an amount of money worth spending (assuming he'll be injury clear for the season). It might eat massively into the transfer budget, but we'd struggle to get a player with similar ability to him for less.

If we are being linked with Van Persie who will command near £100,000 a week, then that is £5 million we should be putting towards a marquee signing OR towards more progressive signings. Surely we've learnt our lesson about overpaid and past their prime players who are hated by Arsenal.

As a new manager comes in they have new plans. While most fans agree that we should sign him. FDB needs to be confident in the recruits he brings to Palace can play the possession football he desires.

Granted, but what better scouting for the ability of a player to play for Palace than a bunch of videos of him playing for Palace? Style of football aside, you'd think he'd want a centre back who can put in a solid shift as a centre back no matter how he wants to set the team up.
