I'm s*** at maths. Is that racist?

Depends on whether you're using evidence collected by a valid or reliable methodology, or just repeating stereotypes.

I don't think he was excusing her ineptitude, but extending the 'same rules apply' logic to Boris Johnson.

Oh dear,oh dear:

Piccaninnie: Derogatory American-slang term which refers to a depiction of dark skinned children of African descent.

Boris:"It is said that the Queen has come to love the Commonwealth, partly because it supplies her with regular cheering crowds of flag-waving piccaninnies".

Boris published an article as Editor of the Spectator:

"Orientals ... have larger brains and higher IQ scores. Blacks are at the other pole".

Do you think Boris was?

There must be a range of intelligence among all groups and in any chart of that sort, someone has to feature more often at the bottom.

Because someone uses terminology and expresses opinions, founded or unfounded, that might offend some people, that does not make them a 'racist'.
I'm not staying awake at night about any of this. The world has far more to worry about.

Boris cannot be Prime Minister. He is a PR nightmare.

Who is arguing about that?

Equally, Abbott does deserve her critics and her illness cannot excuse her from what she has previously said or her performance as a minister.

Expecting personal insults is part and parcel of being a politician and it is way past getting precious about it because she happens to be black and a women.

The race and misogyny card cannot blind us from the reality.

Nope, he's just like that. He of all people should be very cautious about applying stereotypes to intelligence (given he's an exceptionally intelligent man often portrayed as an idiot because he's a poor public speaker. Get him talking about classics rather than politics, and he comes across very differently).

Anyone should in theory be able to become prime minister. Boris would just be a s**t one. He's far more of an academic who probably should have stayed out of political limelight, and maybe go into academia. He'd have been right at home teaching classics, history or literature.
