I dunno. Add them to the BUF, Mosley's lot, 50,000 members, and definitely British, no so-called about it, then there was obviously a very serious treason-like problem for the British State back in the 30's and 40's within their own ranks.

Likely Hrolf is not even aware that about 400,000 muslims served in our armed forces in WW1 and more than half a million enlisted in WW2.

I shudder to think what my father would say today....to be honest.
But I have a fair idea.

Pivotal and defining moment in our history. Up there with 1066, Agincourt, Trafalgar and Waterloo.

To be fair; also in other countries' history, particularly the USA.

I visited numerous D-Day sites a couple of years ago and they are all poignant and moving, but the US cemetery at Omaha has to be seen to be believed in terms of impact. There's a small chapel there, and as I recall it, the walls and ceiling are painted with scenes of fallen soldiers being coaxed up to heaven by merciful angels. I'm not religious but I found it so moving that I weep every time I think about it. Such as now. I almost wish it were true for those soldiers' sakes.

I wonder what the average kill rate was for an SS man?

So bloody what? What would you expect in a bleeding world war?

Hey guess what, rapists and murderers enlisted as well.

I'm not comparing them but It illustrates how ridiculous the point is. Someone fighting on the same side as you means nothing more than you share the same enemy or self interest. Plenty fought against us in the first world war.

Most people fighting IS are still Muslims. I would still make a distinction between what type of Muslim they were before deciding whether them living here was a good idea or not.

How is a thread on the heroes of D Day turned out like this.

Almost every thread goes this way. You would think most hated each other on here. Either there are too many trolls or we have lots of fans that are complete w***ers.

Yes, and the way things are with repeated physical and propaganda attacks on the way of life they fought for, some of them would wonder why they bothered.

Too true

Sorry Mr Funt that you don't like someone paying tribute to our soldiers and their allies re Monte Cassino (after another poster brought up their dad having fought there.

You unnecessarily politicised a thread intended to honour those who fought and died on D Day.
