My thought was compared to other prem sides. Are we now as underprepared as the play off winners. Whilst the fringe players are not been fantastic. If the managerial situation takes another 2 weeks. The new manager may need as many as 10 new players, which is difficult to recruit. The uncertainty could mean the likes of Cabaye and Townsend are unsettled.

No we're not.
They don't know if they're in the Prem until a couple of weeks after the end of season whereas we knew a week before that. Also we know that Fat Sam had spoken with Parish about his plans (pre-resignation) and Parish involves himself (for better or worse) in our transfer business.

Sam's plans aren't necessarily going to be the new manager's plans though

That's was my thinking. As much as Sam didn't rate Ledley and others. A new manager may see them a valuable to the squad. So far only zabaleta moved, who could of being considered a target. Planning to sign players takes a lot of time and it's not done on a whim. Whilst many players are away, it doesn't stop the agents sorting out new clubs for next season. If the manager, not in place in 2 or 3 weeks time. I'd be very concerned. Whilst pulis left a week before season started and this situation. Parish has more time to work with. I don't want us to be in a scenario where we missing out on targets, then panicking and offering average new players contracts.

Andy Johnson Magic, He wears a Magic Hat
When he Sees the match ball, he says he having that
He scores one with left foot, he scores one with his right
And When his playing Brighton, He scores all f***ING Night!

We basically need a new manager and back up team in place asap, well before the start of the transfer season. On the other hand, there's no need to rush it unduely and Parish does have a week or 10 days to draw up a short list and interview. Palace are in a position of relative strength with the best aquad of players we have ever had. This should also mean that we can now attract very high quality managers to work with the club. No need to panic - yet!

Agreed, it would, at the very best have been a gamble in respect of Silva's experience and success in PL Football. He did a good job at Hull in bringing about improvements in their Home form but nothing to shout about with their away record. After all is said and done, he couldn't keep them up and Hull's performance against us in a must win game was pretty woeful.

Granted, but with Parish's involvement they weren't just his plans.

In terms of recruitment, the only recruitment that has seen real activity is in the lower divisions with clubs snapping up players on 'Frees'.At PL, level I think the only transfer agreed has that been Zabaleta from Man C to W.Ham so all very quiet on the PL recruitment front up to now.

And apart from us, there are still other clubs who are managerless and looking to recruit ie Sunderland, Middlesbrough,Wigan,Hull,Leeds and Swindon.

Much as ours was against Burnley when we gifted them their only away win of the season.

It's difficult to evaluate a team when there is so much at stake and nerves play such a prominent role

You are absolutely correct but that is where the manager and tactics come in and experience of handling such situations is essential. I think the problem with the Burnley game was that the foot was taken off the pedal because too many people at the Club were assuming that we were already safe on 38 points. Sam and the Team produced the goods on the day that it mattered but Hull seemed to lack ideas on how to move forward once Wilf scored that early first goal.

We have to get the new manager in the next three weeks or we will fall behind so no panic yet. Roy Hodgson with SL looks a good no gamble fit.

Well there has been one other piece of activity, if you can call it that, in that a firm f***offity has been issued to Spurs and Arsenal in respect of Zaha.
