No! An acquaintance died and he resigned the next morning, like you do. And he didn’t even consider the millions of pounds he may be owed. That’s what happened. Show some respect etc.

I hope all those Seaweed fans who were laughing their arses off over the "predicament" that "we" had got ourselves into are feeling f***ing proud of themselves. Arseholes.

This was sarcasm. Apologies for any confusion.

I hate to seem to be churlish but I'm wondering if the death of his friend was just a co-incidence.

The attack on Manchester Arena happened at about 10:30pm on Monday night with no details released of fatalities for a couple of days yet Sam arranged a meeting with Parish in London on the Tuesday morning, cleared out his desk at Beckenham later that day and released his statement on Tuesday afternoon.

If the death of a friend was a major part of his thinking wouldn't Parish have suggested that he sleep on it for a few days rather than rush into anything?

Are you for real, you have no idea of the relationship the Allardyce family had with the poor woman who died.
He doesn't need the Palace job, he seems to have done what he thought was right for his family. I expect been honest with Parish giving him time to get a new man in.

I'm usually a big fan of sarcasm, in this instance where you clearly know as much as the rest of us, a measured response like the majority of others would probably have been more suitable rather than behaving like a c*nt.

Yellow card will be totally worth it.

If we get relegated next season, can we blame ISIS?

I'm really gutted that Sam has decided to call it a day, although I understand and respect his decision.

It's a myth about Sam playing the long ball game, and he seems to get the best out of what's at his disposal. As far as I'm concerned, he was the best thing to happen to Palace for a good few years.

All the best in your retirement Sam. Thanks for everything.

I am going to sound a bit blunt here but sometimes things need spelling out...

People might not have been named but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work out that as the hours tick by people who are still missing in the location of a bomb are more than likely seriously injured or dead. Families of such people would have been asked to provide items such as toothbrushes or hair brushes to aid the identification. People don't tend to be in easily identifiable states following bomb blasts . Families and immediate friends would have been aware they had someone missing , they may have been aware the person they think is a relative had been recovered but were awaiting a 'formal'confirmation. They may have all 'known'

Furthermore, the families and friends know far sooner than the papers or idiots on forums.

Well said Michaela, shame it needed spelling out.

I don't have a problem with Allardyce. I like him a manager and character and I'm also grateful that he kept us in the Prem for another season. Gutted he's gone. Maybe he felt he had a point to prove after the England debacle. I guess we'll never know the real reasons.

I may be a c*nt but really, people trying to link football matters to the tragic events in Manchester are the ones being glib.

With regards to Allardyce, no sob story is needed. The man is doing what is right for him and he’s perfectly entitled to.

I hope he takes it easy.
