Nobody abroad will pay more than £20m so not worried about being outbid there.
Nobody in the top 6 need him so who are going to be bidding against us?
Spam and Pulis wouldn't be a surprise, and beatable in a bidding war. Saints or Toffees would beat us of course but are they willing to spend big on him, I doubt it.
I think we can get him for £25m which is a lot of dosh for a CB. Are we better off with Kone and Jenkinson for possibly the same money, I wonder.

All depends on the new manager and how he wishes to strengthen the side within the confines of the budget.

Always happens at Palace regardless of the owners.

Totally agree with you . I have been supporting Palace for 54 years now I have seen owners come and go over the years . Apart from SP who I must say is probably the best. The out come is the same the lesser option seems to be the way with Palace .
I really believe if we do not get a strong hardworking centre half like Sakho and a better RB we will be in another relegation dog fight next season without fail

I agree that a CH and a RB are crucial to our next campaign. I also believe however that for £25m we should be able to fill both spots with quality and that is the only reason that buying Sakho may not be the right thing to do.

Who is going to buy Sakho for Scouser valuation until they know the outcome of his injury. The guy clearly loves us lot and vice versa so sign him up for another year loan when he is fully fit.....with an option to buy based on performances.

If Southampton sell van dijk for 50 then sakho for 30 will be easy plus I think sakho is better than van dijk

Well he's not gunna throw that 30 mill at Liverpool. It's pretty early days in negotiation i'm sure. Both parties will be calling each others bluff on this 1. It would be too much money for most other clubs as well, so I expect we will eventually get an offer accepted that is more realistic.

I would have thought that this player over a season could raise our performance by as much as five places, from say 16th to 11th or thereabouts. If you believed that (and maybe not everyone does), then that's £9m in prize money alone. Of course you might be paying wages of £120k instead of maybe £80k as well, but then you might also be on the telly more. Especially if you get somewhere in the Cups.

Of course one might think you can get the same quality elsewhere for less. Maybe, but the only comparable player on the market I can think of is Virgil van Dyck and he costs even more.

I would interested in the "quality" CH and right back that can be acquired for a combined £25m. I assume in the same quality category as Sakho, proven internationals etc?

Van Dijk could go in a cash plus Sakho deal that way Liverpool would get the value they want for the player.

I don't think S'ton will swap Van Dyke for Sakho and cash without knowing he is fully fit also if they are about to change their manager why are they in such a hurry?

SP has said £30m is to rich for Palace to pay we also need a manager so why wouldn't we wait to see how Sakho's recovery progresses.

So I see a bit of a waiting game going on here but it is clear Palace won't pay over the odds to land Sakho!

But like others I do not need convincing that he did make a huge difference to our season and quite simply was the best loan player I have seen in 53 years at Palace!

But would Sakho not have to 'Agree' to join Saints. After all he is still under contract with Liverpool.

Indeed. For most clubs £30m for Sakho is expensive but he's probably worth that to us. Even if we think that figure's reasonable though how the jeffering f*** is van Dijk worth £50m?

I'm not sure I'd be all that impressed if our Board proposed to spend £50m to replace a player worth £30m who was only leaving because our coaches had f***ed him off.
