What is the sentencing guidance for this kind of thing?

There's a case at the moment.

He has pleaded not guilty.

Barton is a thug.
Look at his previous history the issue at Man City where he stabbed someone in the face with a lit cigar end.
His bust up with the Barnsley manager.
His general on field thuggery when playing.
Now this.
Follows suit, if he wasnt so high profile he would be in jail by now.

I recall in the early days of his bad behaviour he being interviewed on the radio and saying how he was undergoing anger management therapy, or something along those lines, and was determined to change his life around. He spoke quite articulately and convincingly.

For a while he became something of a favourite with the the BBC sports department with them casting him as the bad boy striving to make good.

However, a litany of further unpleasant wrong doings over the years suggests that those demons were never cast out.
