They get a bit of investment, stay up then a club like that becomes very attractive to the old school managers like Big Sam! Whether it happens - who knows - but 6 months is a long time in modern footballing terms! You are deluded. Currently, in terms of players, infrastructure and finances compared to us? Leeds are a tiny, weeny little club. Of course that can change but it would take 4 or 5 years for that to happen. Wake up mate, you are living in the past. No one cares how many Yorkshire farmers go along to watch them fail every Saturday. Big club? They're not even guaranteed a play off spot. And if they don't go up Monk will probably get the boot. Such is the nutter that owns them.

So, yep there's a thread about how he hasn't put a foot wrong and the pro Sam - from the start brigade - are feeling totally justified in our unconditional backing from the start ... BUT, assuming (and praying) he keeps us up ... what are the chances of him actually wanting to stay with us next season?! Pulis did the dirty and let's face it Sam would probably have his head turned quite easily if a big club came knocking ... which concerns me. If he did go, you couldn't knock him to much as he was brought in primarily to keep us up, which he hopefully will. But do we have enough as a club to keep him?! I sincerely hope so ... Thoughts? I'd hope Sir Sam would stay even is we went down (got to give Rafa respect for staying at toons given his pedigree BTW). For me, Sam has done enough to prove himself with our very difficut last few games. I hope and expect we don't go down, but if we do, we could easily do a heck of a lot worse than keeping Sir Sam.

Win a few games on the trot and he's now Sir Sam. I suppose if we manage to stay up you will start referring to him as Lord Allardyce of Selhurst

As previously alluded to - Sam will stay as he has potentially the best squad he has ever managed. If we able to keep our best players and then buy two or three more he will be made up. Have a summer fire sale and he may then have second thoughts!

Guaranteed, you wouldn’t be giving it all this if we were in the bottom 3 currently … and not that long ago, we were. And we could still end up there. We are still a work in progress in terms of a Prem club … Leeds aren’t a big club! Yeah right-e-o! You sound like a plastic fella … it’s not all about how much dough you have in the bank to warrant being a big club …

Not really bothered what I sound like to you 'fella', plastic or otherwise. I've probably been supporting Palace since you were in nappies (or longer) but unlike yourself that wants to use words like 'plastic' I'm not in the 'I'm a better fan that you club'. its drivel.

Great post, totally agree. Are Old Corinthians still a big club?

Nappies!!! You're a funny one eh! I doubt it as you'd have to be typing this with the aid of a home help! Let's hope you're right about us staying up as this season isn't over yet ... and we're a couple of bad results away from being right down in the mire again! But, I admire your confidence .. Yeah - I see ya point to some degree but my point is, about losing Sam to someone else and I used Leeds loosely. Saying they're not a big club is madness tho! Let's agree to disagree as I'm finding you a bit boring/tedious now 'fella'

And Chelsea get 40k due to SB capacity limitations - hence them rebuilding SB in the near future ... Anyway, I'm gone ...

What Leeds are, and are probably the most apt club outside The Prem to be called this, is a sleeping giant. Maybe if they are still languishing 30 years from now and most of us who remember them from the 70's and 90's have departed this mortal coil then they can be classed the same as the Prestons, Huddersfields, etc. They got 32,000 to go 7th in The Champ on Saturday. Truth is if they had a very rich investor tomorrow they would be in The Prem averaging 40,000 within two years and if bigger stands were built 50,000 within three to four. A sleeping giant indeed. We have never been called that outside the Prem. They are a bigger club than us history and fan base and world recognition wise but, as it stands, we are richer and higher up. You'll be saying Bournemouth are bigger than them next Edited by Kermit8 (20 Apr 2017 6.26pm)

He means 'pull factor' or 'attraction factor', and I agree with him, because anyone is going to choose us over Leeds as things stand, and it'll take our standings to diverge for that to change. Money and level of football supercedes thousands more fans.

Yep, valid points and I hear what you're saying. The whole thread is hyerthetical but if Leeds do come up via the play offs - which they could do as that's exactly how we got promoted a few years back - then their profile will be raised again very quickly. Primarily because of their history and then fan base which is potentially massive. They get the wind behind their sales - which can be done without spending silly money - due to momentum, teamwork & belief then their appeal will improve. As someone else just said, it's like saying Bournemouth are a bigger club than Leeds! They're not ... for numerous reasons. It just happens that their league position and 'relative' finances are. But as we know, being in the Prem changes that dramatically. In the same way our reality will be dramatically changed if we were relegated ... which is a possibility, especially with our run in.
