There are gnostic Christian cults and sects, including the Quakers, which don't focus on life after death (Quakers argue that one should aim to create paradise on earth, rather than focus on what comes after death).

Christianity as a term is basically a fraud of Catholicism (to a lesser extent) and Protestantism, to monopolise 'other associated groups' in to their political spectrum of authority.

So much incorrect about this post Jamie, but hey you sound plausible so most will presume you must know what you are talking about...

Christianity starts and ends with Jesus, I could detail to you all theology behind that, but whats the point and I cant be bothered TBH.

Catholicism is a distortion of Christianity as pretty much all denominations are TBH. Witness its numerous made up doctrines (purgatory anyone?).

Christianity can not be a distortion of Catholicism, because without Christianity there can be no Catholicism.

Religion is flawed because it is man made and hs sadly been used to control people.

You do know it's mostly made up right?
People only know of Jesus through religion. Actually mostly because of Emperor Constantine. Without him Christianity would probably have ended up just another minority religious sect.
If the religious spent as much time learning history as they do reading the Bible they might be better informed.

Hmm Catholicism predates Protestantism (which its a reaction to), and most modern evangelism has its basis in Protestantism. Unless we're talking about some basis in the surviving gnostic faiths, or more obscure groups like the Coptic Christainity, almost all western Christianity is adoption from Catholicism, via the Protestant reformations.

If you're well up on your scripture, you'll be aware that Matthew 16:18 makes it clear that Jesus established a church whilst personally present on earth, under the leadership of Peter.

If you buy into Christianity, the New Testament is and must be your primary reference point.

Never realised before that blancmange is French for white eat. Why would the French call Blancmange white eat? They're weird.

LOL, this is clearly people that describe themselves as Christian but don't really have strong religious beliefs.

Most people in the country would describe themselves as Christian, but yet think the whole premise is a fairy tale.

Clearly anyone with any conviction would believe in the afterlife/heaven etc, as its fundamental to the whole thing.

Yep, I couldn't agree more.....plastic Christians.

Tricky....I'm not sure how much Jesus would have brought into that himself considering what the texts say.

It seems he was more up for modification of the message rather than starting again.

The very notion of him being the Messiah for example, with all that comes with it, means that you can't ignore the Torah.

It's pretty unequivocal. Not modified. Superceded.
