Since Marco Silva came we have been totally different to before. The players don't have a day off and he makes sure each player knows their role. He put Eldin Jakupovic in goal over David Marshall. Marshall was letting in two or three goals a match and was pretty relaxed about it but Jakupovic is such a shot stopper and incredibly passionate. Up front Silva has started playing with Hernandez and Niasse rather than the one up front all season. Niasse has no ball control to speak of but he has a natural strikers attitude. 4-0 at Everton looks bad but we were 1-0 down and putting them under pressure when Huddlestone was sent off (with 3 match ban) for a yellow card offence with about 10 worse challenges that week end without even a yellow. We haven't missed him at all.
Looking at the up coming fixtures I would guess at 6 points from Watford and Sunderland which would mean 36 and could be enough. We need to accept that anything is possible in this league. Look at your Sunderland at home and Chelsea away. I see you lot seem to go from extreme doom to extreme confidence depending on the result. Palace v Hull could be an important match or it might not matter at all.
I'm not going to wish you luck while we are both at risk but there are other teams I'd rather go down.

Sensible away contributors are welcome.

I think you're staying up and I'm hopeful that it's either Swansea or the Whelk Eaters that are going down with Boro and Sunderland.

Well I think Simon's head is large; always involved in espionage. (Name that tune)

Im liking the fact that Leicester have that monster fixture in the CL midweek after playing us. In addition, the chances of Utd qualifying for next seasons CL via the league is looking grim. Winning the europa is looking the most favourable for qualifying, the final being 3 days after we play them. Both fixtures could see key players rested. Some things go your way. Wink

Good point about the Manure situation there, Olds-ey; I'd overlooked that.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

You evidently don't feel the same antipathy towards us as your fellow supporter "Wade Wilson (Not 606)". Yesterday's "i" newspaper carried an item about what Premiership club supporters were saying. Nineteen spoke about their own club; the exception was the above-mentioned Wade, who barely mentioned Hull but said, "Just saw Palace's fixture list (Arsenal, Leicester......). I hate Palace, please no surprises, straightforward losses to all of them............." His hatred seems to go beyond the relegation battle. What has upset him? (Our own supporter who was quoted was "bicycle repair man", who devoted his comment to singing the praises of Milivojevic.)

Put it this way. We are in theory 4 points clear of Swansea (if you count our significantly better GD).

I can see us winning 2 games MINIMUM, those being Burnley and Hull at home. This would mean Swansea will need to win FOUR of their last 7 to go above us. And this doesn't take into consideration we can pick up points elsewhere, Leicester at home potentially a point? Spurs at home potentially a point? Arsenal at home potentially a point?

We'll be fine! Close, but fine.

If West Ham hold on we're effectively 4 points clear (3 + goal difference) of Swansea with 2 games in hand. They'll only have 6 games to make this up on us and looking at it like that, I reckon another 4 points would be enough to keep them at bay. So we basically need to win at least one of the Hull, Burnley and Leicester games.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

I don't know if this is some kibd of kiss of death or something but Garth Crooks on the BBC opined that it was for Hull and Swansea to fight over the third telegation spot and Palace had "too much quality".

Too much quality if our remaining fixtures were Stoke, Burnley, Hull, Swansea, Sunderland etc.

Having more quality than Swansea and Hull has not been the issue since our turnaround, it's our fixture list against the top teams that we may not have too much quality for.
