If as stated that the comments were made in a jovial mood and both parties were laughing, then why did he feel the need to phone her to apologise.
Second point, it happened a couple of weeks ago, he apologised and she accepted the apology so why was it leaked to a newspaper.
Somebody was not happy with the outcome and wanted Moyes punished.

For what it's worth, he apologized only after it came out in the press.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was leaked by someone at Sunderland.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Looks to me that someone got a bit precious over this, and the foaming at the mouth in outrage is far over the top. For members of parliament to get involved and demand action is pathetic.

Watching the video, Moyes was obviously talking in a jokey manner and did nothing to suggest that he would have actually slapped her.

That's not really the issue, but its really more about how that kind of language of 'banter' can actually make someone feel. Quite often people will use language and actions, that others interpret very differently, and it creates a 'hostile environment' for that person, without any one realising that's the case.

Obviously, its gone too far, but it is unprofessional behaviour. I would probably joke like that with people I was friends with, but not work collegues or a work environment, because I DONT know how someone would take that kind of 'banter'.

No I don't think he did.

My understanding is that he phoned her shortly after the incident. It came out some time afterwards.

I did find the video footage a bit more sinister than the coverage initially suggested, but nonetheless it was clearly jokey. It was in poor taste and ill-judged. But still just a joke. He's apologised to her and the world should just move on.

I suspect Moyes will soon be moved on, rather than moving on. I'd imagine he wishes he never left Everton for a 'bigger club'.

Took 2 weeks to come so I suspect someone behind the scenes wants Moyes out and thought they'd cause a sh5t storm. It's nothing in the real world but in football anything like this gets hyped up and Moyes will go sooner or later.

I think you are probably right although if the board were the source of the leak - to engineer the situation so they could sack him - then they've probably missed their opportunity.

If he hadn't have left Everton he would have been forced out by now. He is looking more and more discredited. The struggles of van Gaal and Mourinho not withstanding, Sociedad with relatively little changes are challenging for Europe now while he had them scraping towards survival.
