The money at stake is humongous with all the Far East betting syndicates etc. It's the only explanation I can think of for all these peculiar decisions which seem to arise so often regarding certain teams. Edited by lancseagle (26 Feb 2017 8.20pm) The sad thing is that letting a smaller team win would actually be better for the game overall. big decisions going the way of the bigger teams does no one a favour in the long run

2 things.... The sooner video replays are used to clear up bad decisions by the officials the better. The sooner you lot stop responding to Willo's "bating" the better.

In respect of the video comment, having been watching the 6-nations rugby where this is used by the officials, it actually seems to take no more time for a video check to be run and a clear decision made and conveyed to the players (and accepted without question by all parties), than it does in football for the players to mob the referee, argue the point and get back to playing with an incorrect decision often having been made and a nasty taste left in the mouths of a lot of people. Bring it on I say, and the sooner the better!

I'm not a massive fan of video replays honestly but it seems inevitable it will eventually arrive. I am sort of with Willo on this one. I think some referees make catastrophic mistakes, but I don't believe that for the overwhelming majority of decisions that is as a result of any conspiracy to ensure the big teams win. Yes the big teams get the majority of big decisions. But the big teams will also be in a position to get those decisions (penalties, offside goals, etc) given in their favour more often because they tend to be better. They'll be having more shots and more shots from offside positions and so every so often one will be given incorrectly. And some referees do enjoy the limelight more than others and make decisions they shouldn't make due to a subconscious desire to be influential (Clattenburg), but even there I don't think he is deliberately trying to shaft us (even if it seems that way sometimes).

To set the record straight,I am certainly NOT involved in any such "Bating" I can assure you and it really is disappointing to hear such an allegation. All I am doing is giving my own honest opinions and looking at incidents from a referees perspective, that's all.I fully accept that referees err from time to time but don't accept that mistakes are made on purpose. Yes there are many who disagree on me on this matter but this is a discussion forum and innevitably there will be polarised views amongst the cut and thrust of lively debate. So NO "Bating" at all in any shape or form.

Totally disagree. Joey Barton 1200 bets over 10 years Other players implicates Piegate bets on first foul, corner, throw in etc You don't think that the game is corrupt?

Let's have a bit of balance. They already do. They also expose s*** decisions. The problem is they do it on MotD and not in time to confirm or change a decision.
