In reality, his team mates don't pass because they're probably fed up with him slowing everything down. It was a mistake on Townsend's part but as the game finished with a Palace win this is just nonsense.

It's ashame that 30 million only buys you someone that only looks half interested when you directly put the ball on his head from 6 yards out.

Unfortunately though, Remy is a sicknote and wasn't on bench again today, I'm sure he'd be a better fit. We could also look at someone in the Andy Caroll mould if we stay up but obviously right now you have to go with Benteke over the likes of Frazier Campbell and hope he shows up occasionally.

We've already got an injury-prone non-scoring centre-forward: Connor Wickham.

As for the 'Andy Caroll mould' I think you'll find they broke it when they made him!

Very Good.

I thought Townsend was crap yesterday. He is greedy and squanders good chances. Benteke was within in his rights to complain. It should have been a cross to the far post.

If anyone doesn't look like a team player it's Townsend

Never like to see players kicking off on the pitch...do it in the changing room. As an opponent that is just what you want to see.

From observation, Tekkers does seem a bit high maintenance...but in terms of what they bring to the team, he did pick the right person to moan at.

I have watched with frustration this year as Townsend, who I was happy to get at what I thought was good money, has disappointed. He looks very one-dimensional - dribble as far as possible and shoot...from anywhere.

Townsend should have passed, it was the easier option and his shot was poor. Apart from that he had a decent game though.

Don't really have a problem with Benteke having a go at him and it's good to see him pissed off at not scoring.

"Fans" like you are what's poisonous to the atmosphere at games. You're an imbecile. Benteke had every right to be hacked off as I was. lately we have a record of conceading late goals and that was the chance to kill the game just like at Bournemouth. What if they had got a goal back straight after that moment? anything can happen in football especially at SP. Are you one of the deluded mob that say "Benteke is immobile wahhhh" how many lost causes did he chase down, how many times did he get in the box? He had a few chances showed brilliant technique and if not for a decent Valdes he would be on the scoresheet and if Townsend hadn't been so selfish. "Fans" like you deserve to be watching the likes of Campbell each week. Sick to death of the constant bashing of our players who do not deserve it. 100% is Benteke hadn't of been in the box there would be multiple threads on here saying how s*** he was for not getting in the box for a simple square and tap in.

Strange how people see things so differently,I thought Townsend recently has been on of our best players, and yesterday he worked his socks off.
Next time Benteke makes a pigs ear of a penalty maybe Townsend should go over and have a go at him.

I'm not disputing that, I've said on here before I love Benteke but HATE his penalty style and I would have nodded in agreement if someone clipped him round the ear for it But how Benteke doing the same to Townsend and rightfully so turns into Benteke being s*** ect really irks me. I have been impressed with Andros and hope he maintains it, just next time do what you did at Bournemouth when in that situation!

I think it's about time for a tweet to the effect that these two have put their handbags away.

Spot on. Benteke passed to Townsend to receive the return, as Townsend would have known. He had taken up a good position and would probably have scored. The shot was from a tight angle and pretty hopeless. Benteke had a right to be angry and it looked to me like this wasn't the first such incident.

Benteke needed to make it clear to Townsend it has to stop. Shame he did it to the detriment of our final celebration though.

But how people can say Townsend had a poor game is beyond me, Zaha deflected the defenders and gave Townsend loads of space. He did OK.
