If we wanted to keep Pulis we could have, He was under contract and has been loyal everywhere else he has been. We were building something under him just like WBA are now. There were clearly issues and Pulis did get caught telling lies but had we backed him that situation would have never arisen. If Pulis got the backing from the club Pardew did he probably would still be at Palace doing a good job. Parish is learning and i bet he regrets letting Pulis go.

You're obviously forgetting the court action Parish brought against him. And won.
I wonder if Pulls has paid it back yet!
And how could you forgive any manager that walked out on us 2 days before a season opener away to Arsenal? One of the toughest opening games we could have had.
I can't.

The turning point was my mate started to like football (and by extension, us). We've been absolute s*** since then!

On a serious note, it was probably when Pards was made manager, but we all were happy with him then and at Christmas when we were 6th, so who's really to blame?

The day we let Tony Pulis walk out of the club.

Except we didn't, it was even proven in court, that he effectively engineered and manipulated his departure, in an attempt to gain his bonus and be free of his contract.

F**k him. Also, we did achieve better under Pardew than Pulis. Whilst I don't doubt that under Pardew the wheels have not just come off, but ceased to be wheels, we never let Pulis leave, he was going whatever.

Also, has he paid up yet. We should issue enforcement proceedings and send round the baliffs.

I think the turning point came when Pardew was appointed.
Granted, we got a few good months out of him but when you've planted the seeds you throw away the packet.

Twelve of them, an FA Cup final and our best ever position in the premiership.

Something more to this than just Pardew I think. To me it looked like the players were more passionate playing for Pardew than they have been for Allerdyce (granted either way we've been s**t for 12 months).

I can't think of any reason, why we'd be really good for 12 months, and then really s**t for twelve months, without even a wobble in between. We went from 6th, and being 'serious Europe contenders' to being s**t with nothing in between.

Agree 100% with this. The wheel had just started to come off a bit and it was quite clear some new blood was needed in that window.

Pardews answer to this was Adebayor, who clearly wanted one last payday and had no interest in anything else.

Don't waste your time with jealousy. Sometimes your ahead, sometimes your behind, the race is long. But in the end it's only with yourself!!

Can't go back as far as Pulis. Pardew had an incredible first 12 months - we were the 5th best team in the Prem over that period! Pulis, as well as he did for us was only there 6 months or so.

Pardew did incredibly well to turn it round for us after Warnock, but then complacency definitely started to kick in. Agree it was stupid hat he said about Cabaye - difficult to know what impact that had though (if any)

Biggest error I think was thinking we had a good central midfield - and I include Jedi in that.

Jedi, McArthur, Cabaye, Punch - none of these are good solid Prem defensive midfielders. Jedi was a couple of years back definitely.

Replace Jedinak with someone like Luka last summer and a lot of problems are avoided.

Also we have been very unlucky with Mandanda - they recognised Wayne was a weak link last summer but Steve's only played 9 games.

Losing Bolasie was a big blow, but it was the right decision as he wanted to leave and wasn't up for it anymore.

Nothing to do with:
- Yanks investment
- Pardew Warnock comment

If you look at it properly though, it wasn't 12 months.
The only time this divisive character should've been allowed near our club after he was transferred as a player was as an opposing manager.
It was a bad managerial appointment by Parish, exacerbated by the fact he kept that charlatan in the job too long.

The court action was AFTER he left, My point was and you dont seem to be able to grasp was If the club had stopped Pulis from leaving by backing him fully then we wouldnt be in the position we are. If Pulis had stayed at the club another few days Parish would have lost the court case. Im not backing Pulis, he was a cnut for leaving when he did but things would be a whole lot different now if we kept hold of him.

I grasp your point and I fully understand it.
Your point, however, is wrong.
He walked out on us. He wasn't given the boot.

It could well have been constructive dismissal.

No-one knows what went on behind closed doors but that doesn't stop people thinking that they do.

So he didn't walk out on us 2 days before the start of the season then?
And if it wasn't down to him then I'd still rather trust the judgement of Parish before someone like Pulis who's had previous history.
Wouldn't you?

It went wrong when Parish kept Pardew after the Cup Final in my opinion.
11 points in 19 games (other than the Cup)leading up to that should have been enough to see AP relieved of his duties and therein lies our problem.
We would likely not be where we are now but for that.
