If we don't vastly reduce migration very soon, any human kindness will be replaced with a struggle for survival. Refugees or otherwise. There is no point in you banging on all the time it is not going to happen. The govt. is not going to change its policy on immigration.

Yep. That's another 400 on top of the millions of so called refugees/immigrants that have either legally or illegally arrived here in the last decade. We're full up. Our infrastructure can't cope. Let some other mugs foot the bill. The infrastructure can't cope because of cuts and austerity which people fell for hook line and sinker.

Wait, what? Are you worried that 13 year olds are being exploited as child labour or do you think they some how fooled the school system and the tax office at the same time? I hope their employer has them registered in a pension scheme.

Much like the thousands already homeless here. Edited by Tim Gypsy Hill '64 (08 Feb 2017 10.16pm) I quite agree with that.

I have a spare tent. But it'll have to be pitched somewhere nearer a school which isn't already full. And if they need any medical attention, do I have to pay for it, or will some of the bleeding heart "celebs" help out, instead of hiding their cash in off-shore accounts?

I think the important word is settle, which I take to mean to be comfortable (and accepted by those already in place) in the new environment. The more who (they are human beings) are taken in, the greater will be the risk of them being placed in a former holiday camp (or worse a dis-used prison) until they can be distributed. It is likely that one new person will be helped to integrate, but just five will be ignored (as they already have "friends" of the same culture). A problem needing careful handling.

Britain took refugees from the nazis whether they were bombed or not. If I want to take in a refugee what has it got to do with anyone else? Well Canada for starters. The UK sent children there until a ship carrying children was sunk by German U Boats

What about those rich Middle East countries? I don't hear you complaining about their lack of charity. Not as much fun to bash them though is it. You mean those dictatorship oppressive regimes which have brutal human rights violations. I wonder why they're not ideal and not charitable
