Professional footballers are never going to be as passionate about a club as the fans are. The fans often support their team all of their lives. Players (and managers and owners) come and go. A player gets transferred and suddenly he's kissing the badge and spouting the usual platitudes to the cameras. Similarly, the fans boo and jeer players they used to cheer when they move club. But what we should expect is that professionals give 100% when they play. Wages should be linked to appearances and results to incentivise them more. Edited by hedgehog50 (05 Feb 2017 10.56am) This is true. Doesn't mean a player can't form a special bond with a club, team mates and its fans and have special memories. Not seen many players break down and cry after winning a match. Espeically one who is clearly as hard as DD is.

Bexley Dave Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing! "The most arrogant, obnoxious bunch of deluded little sun tanned, loafer wearing mummy's boys I've ever had the misfortune of having to listen to" (Burnley forum) |

SA said he reverted to back four set up instead of three centre backs so DD was the expendable one.

The "fan" who ran on to confront Delaney is a disgrace, and probably now regreting his actions.

Whoever this was that did this deserves a lifetime ban. I was angry but what would compel you to do that? f***ing idiot. Also out of all the poor performances why would you dig out Damo? I'd fancy my chances in a tear up with others before I picked on a 6'3" mad Irish man!! Agree with this. I don't think the guy intentionally chose DD and it was just that he was the first off the pitch. But who knows what he was thinking. It was a poor performance by DD but he was no worse than several others. It would be a real shame if this was the last we saw of him but I can't see him packing it in. He'll likely get less game time now we have Sakho and Sam must be thinking of ditching the back 3.

I guess if Dann has done his hamstring he won't be available now? In which case it's Ward Sakho Tomkins v. Aanholt.

I don't feel for him at all. I hope the stupid, brainless, aggressive moron cops a huge fine and a lifetime ban. Absolute w@nker. I agree with you. Delaney has done us proud many times since we came up and didn't deserve that. Its frustrating for all of us how crap we have been at home for the last year or so and yesterday will go down as one of the all time low performances. But no player deserves to be confronted by a fan on the pitch.

The supporter has no excuse whatsoever for leaving his seat and confronting a player. If he can't behave in a civilised manner put the idiot in a zoo.

this so called fan is a disgrace. DD is one of few players who gives everything every game. Why he picked on him I dont know.
