I'm sorry, but if this is Parish at his best, then it's probably time to hire staff that can negotiate for him You do not think he does all the negotiating on his own do you??
Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky. |

Surely we don't have a negotatior that's employed by the club who keeps bidding under the odds for players, have a look at the Benteke situation, we sat on our thumbs for nigh on 2 months just to haggle over 3 million or so. If a negotatior in any other profession did that, they'd be sacked by now. Edited by Eagle123456 (23 Jan 2017 5.00pm)

As some one now retired who used to negotiate huge contracts very successfully-I think you have to consider a few of important points. The fact that Parish has run a business and the Palace since 2010 is not relevant to his personal knowledge of the game, these are separate issues...I have made that point previously and some Einstein GoldDick on here was a bit of an idiot towards me. He appointed Ian Moody who was obviously influential in signing signing Mutch and Campbell for example. The board make the managerial appointments and their judgement or lack of it decides how we make progress. On financial matters SP takes the security of the club very much to heart and as a consequence is very risk averse. No names are necessary to identify the wasted money. I doubt that our need for a decent scouting system has been met. Having commented I would not want any one else as chairman but you can be too close to the problems to see the trees.

100% agree. Been thinking on those exact lines for the last couple of seasons. He has been over-reaching himself and is, perhaps, in denial with regard to needing help. Edited by Kermit8 (23 Jan 2017 6.30pm)

They can also increase it through other sources of increased revenue, for instance; Manchester City have increased theirs by over £32M this term. I'm not sure if they have breached the rules there or not. We supposedly have a wage bill of £55m, only and increase of £0.7m from last year. so you'd assume we can increase that by £6.3m here in January. Those figures could be wrong as we did acquire Benteke and Townsend on big salaries and only offloaded Adebayor and Bolasie on biggish money. Although we did offload Hangeland, Mariappa, Jedinak, Gayle, Chamakh. So cumulatively they could have added up, I think Mariappa was on quite a good deal. Interestingly, Leicester could increase their wage bill by £17.8M this term because their wages last season were only £48.2M (under the £54M cap). Apparently we have the 15th highest wages, I'm not sure how trustworthy most of sources out there are though. Edited by Mad4palace (23 Jan 2017 11.03am) All sorts going on at Citeh. Aren't their shirt sponsors actually the owners ?

Its not false, Bournmouth offered a bigger signing on fee whilst we did match his wage demands. I beleive there is a bonus put in his contract too which we didnt offer. You keep making things up. Arsenal set his wages, as under contract to them, so how can Parish not meet his demands? He chose Bournemouth for other reasons, nothing to do with money.

Some of our fans live in cuckoo land saying Steve Parish is at fault for not bringing in players mentioned in the past two weeks or so. Palace and Arsenal had agreed a price and it was all set for Jenkinson to join us but out of the blue his agent asked for some stupid amount in wages. I am so glad SP told him to poke it. If the bloke wants to sit on Arsenals bench collecting £40,000 a week and not playing that's his prerogative but it is not doing his career any good NOT playing football. SP is doing his level best to get the players in that BFS wants and as some posters have already said the agents and prices of players have to slot into place and be affordable to get a player over the line and into the club. We still have time to get players in before the window closes so please have some faith in the people doing their best to keep us in the premiership and not keep slagging them off.. I don't normally agree with your posts, but you are spot on here. I am sure Parish and Sam are trying as hard as they can to get players in, but January is a notoriously difficult window. We only need players, who are better than we have and other teams don't want to let players go, as they don't have time to get a replacement in.

I don't think that we are far from breaking FFP, Parish always said he wanted to run the club so it was sustainable, most clubs don't and are happy to risk spending more than they can in the hope it keeps them in the promised land. I don't think Parish will do that unless he is convinced it will make us better. Most players in the January window won't do that and will cost a lot more in the process, sadly a gamble that he won't take IMO.

I live in the real world, let me tell you about it - you are accountable for the decisions you make and the effect your leadership has on the group you lead. There isnt a chairman in the league who wouldnt have fired Pardew minimum 3 but maybe 6 months earlier. We were awful back end of last year apart from the cup run. I am not a sheep who blindly follows and supports anyone who works for CPFC without questioning a single thing they do - that is cloud cuckoo land. Parish has gone a long way to getting us relegated. He is personally accountable for how bad we are right now. He needed to recognize that Pardew was totally wrong for us MONTHS earlier, not even weeks. Cue the chorus of 'real fans' who think Parish walks on water and is beyond reproach. He is a human being who makes mistakes like all of us, problem is the mistakes he has already made and seems to continue to make are going to get us relegated. I see some on here think that wouldn't be such a bad thing, maybe in 10 years time they might reconsider that. We are finally on a good road to sorting out the ground, the academy, the scouting network, etc etc. Relegation would destroy all of that in a heartbeat.
Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha. |
