Such is the life of the 'inverted winger' CE. Apparently they can only do anything useful if a full-back overlaps them. Alternatively, of course, they could play on the same side as their footedness and just cross the ball in, and this wouldn't preclude an overlap, but doesn't make it a necessity.

If Townsend wants this himself, then its going to happen quicker. This is better for Palace and better for Townsend. Win-win situations dont come along very often and this is one of them. Perfect for Palace to reinvest in defensive players who will match with who BFS wants to bring to the club. For example, if another CB comes in who we couldnt otherwise afford, perfect.

That article was posted on 30 December, but I've seen little evidence since of his making a 'better impression'. Interesting that he thought "two of the best positions you can play in football are centre-forward and left-wing at Newcastle"

We do need a replacement for Bolasie on the left or a LB, depending on where it's intended to play Schlupp.

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

This piece suggests we shouldnt jump to concludions just yet. For example there is no evidence yet that Newcastle or Boro have actually made a bid

Looks like Newcastle want a loan, which suits them but not Palace, who want dosh to buy an extra defender

Might happen quickly. Having said that, heard last nihgts match on the radio, and Townsend seemed to be one of the better players and provided the assist for the winning goal. So not a disaster (from my point of view) if he stays

We don't play league one teams every week though.

Can see this happening. Townsend clearly isn't interested in playing for Palace. Just runs around to keep away from our fans or to keep warm!

I bet if Newcastle buy him he will immediately start whizzing down the wing, fizzing over lots of crosses or cutting in and having a few shots.

Just like we thought he would do for us!

He actually started doing that to good effect yesterday!

We need to ship him out as his attitude is not helping the dressing room. It says a lot about him that he quickly jumped ship when the Toon went down and now wants to jump ship here when things go wrong
