I like this response, very balanced and reasonably thought out.
However, I would say Jedinak's influence would have been useful to Pardew this season and I believe it was a mistake to let him go. (But then Pards made many arrogance-based mistakes that have led us to this point. The treatments of Speroni, Murray and Gayle all spring to mind)

I tend to agree that he could have and would have been an influence, notwithstanding some woeful passing, but he had become marginalised and, if Pardew wasn't going to play him, he was better off moving on. It is possible to make a case for at least giving Speroni another go when we were leaking goals. Gayle was unfancied by four managers, including Pardew, and Murray didn't really hack it at Bournemouth, so I can see the reasoning for their departure.

The Big Sam who kept Sunderland up is the manager who you would grudgingly admire for his work in the last 16 years in the premier of keeping teams up. He got his dream job with England and blew it, it appears the experience has completely devastated his enthusiasm/confidence. From day 1 his tone/body language in press conferences and post match interviews have been really lacking in his usual confidence and the way the team are playing is reflecting his current attitude. From his beaming smile with England to sulking in our dug unless he has a massive change of attitude soon we are in a real mess. I was in the Pardew out Big Sam in camp but looks like we have made a huge error of judgement in employing Sam in his current state.

Absolute rubbish.Luck FFS.

SP has backed all the Managers and given them time.
Sam has plenty of time to put 11 lads out on the pitch to gain enough points to stay up.

What I saw last night was Townsend on the LEFT and getting in good crosses for BENTEKE.

Give him service and he will score.

Managers nowadays take to much of the blame, the players need to stand up and be counted.

Our lads have made to many schoolboy errors.

Eradicate those and we will be fine.

Big decision for Sam Saturday is Wayne or Jules.

Don't think so.

Way I see it is that Allardyce sees Hennessey as his "No 1" and Speroni was just brought in for the FA Cup game.

Actually, Allardyce is undecided:

Maybe being diplomatic.
I will be very surprised if Speroni plays on Saturday.

Fatso doesnt seem to play too many games with the media, quite refreshing. I dont think he would say that just to light a fire under Hennessey and massage Jules' ego. I think he is starting to realize there are certain fundamental things wrong with the side. A striker low on confidence is one thing but a keeper not backing himself will always lead to goals being conceded. The back four are not confident in Hennessey, you could tell that from all the initial quotes on Mandanda. A confident Speroni is better than an unconfident and dithering Wayne Hennessey any day of the week. Put Jules in until Mandanda is back and lets start to breed some confidence into our defenders. Hennessey's positional sense and decision making is absolutely abysmal, and how do you think that makes the back four feel when those balls get dinked over them towards our goal? I hope this quote tells you that SA is starting to realize this is a big problem for us and needs to be fixed asap.

This behaviour is no different to normal. Trust me, I've watched him a bit before because I wrote him off sometime early in his West Ham days.

With regards to the team reflecting him, well it's too early to fairly judge and he's clearly addressing specific areas rather than buying whoever the latest big name is available and/or relatively cheap and considering us or Watford or Bournemouth.

Of course I have NO idea as to Allardyce's thinking in respect of our goalkeepers but I am just going on a hunch.

I also believe (Without any insider knowledge on this matter)that Allardyce has concluded that he has taken on a much tougher job than he anticipated and who knows, might regret that he took the job !

Parish did make a mistake in failing to see the writing was on the wall for Pardew last May and he certainly should have acted after the Swansea away result, but I suspect that he would acknowledge that himself. I don't go along with the 'core player' argument; Bolasie wanted out, Jedinak had become a fringe player and Gayle wasn't favoured by four managers. Benteke was potentially a great signing and still would be with decent service in the right formation. Remy was a risk, due to his injury record, but is starting to look very good. Townsend is an arse and needs to be told to get on the left and start putting some crosses in or fcuk off. Flamini could be important influence if used well.

It's not necessarily too late for Allardyce to turn things around. He's still got two weeks of this window left and then he needs a few weeks to get the team playing the way he wants and for his coaching team to have an effect. No one can undo the damage that Pardew did to confidence and fitness in a few weeks. So yes, on balance SP should have acted quicker, but I do see why he was unwilling to do so. All is not lost until we're mathematically down, and until we are, I'm not giving up hope of a revival.

A very sensible post - particularly like the Townsend bit.
