So will we seeing that is at least the third thread where you've posted the exact same line. Anyway as Hoof has intimated goalkeeper is only part of the problem. Defensively we are just bloody awful. Damo is shot, yes he has the heart but he is not good enough, Dann, is a good CB and certainly good enough starter but I've always said he is overrated by most Palace fans. Remember the Dann for England shouts? What currently concerns me most is we look even less organised than under Pardew. I thought the one thing Allardyce would bring is discipline without the ball. Give him a chance - he hasn't been there all that long and there is no "Magic wand" which can turn around a horrific run since the start of 2016. I'm sure he realises that he has taken on a much bigger job than he anticipated.Maybe he wishes he hadn't joined !!!! Edited by Willo (15 Jan 2017 12.12pm)

Edited by Willo (15 Jan 2017 12.12pm) In three weeks I would expect to see players having a better idea of their roles without the ball. I'm not talking about being error free, I'm talking about defence in a straight line not a snake, compact, CBs closer together etc. Three weeks and five games in do I expect miracles? No but I haven't seen anything encouraging so far either.

Another thing that nobody has really mentioned is how much we are missing Wilf, not only for his forward play but his tracking back to help out the defence, just shows the effort he puts in that others do not.

The whole issue with the team is around confidence. Poor play and a number of horrendous refereeing decisions have taken our guys to rock bottom on confidence. Good players do not become bad overnight, but good players without confidence are bad players. Therefore SA needs to rebuild confidence from the back through the team. Hennessy must be dropped. He always has the look of someone about to drop a clanger (yesterday he had 3, 2 were goals) and last season when he started away to Villa he went on to drop changers in consecutive games. Speroni has the confidence of Dann, Tomkins, Damo, Wardy etc and this means a lot. A new left back (due imminently) will make a huge difference to the defence. In midfield we need a fit Jimmy Mac and Flamini to give us the basis of cover for the central defenders. We then need 3 creatives and a centre forward. Wilf will obviously be a shoe-in on his return and Punch is a good club man and trier. Cabaye is safer in a forward position and Remy seems to want it more than Benteke. Having said that we take far too long to get the ball forward to Benteke. I would give Kai Kai a run against Bolton and see if we can leave Townsend on the bench for a few games. He looks shell shocked right now.

The first goal in yesterday's game was always going to be the deciding factor in that game considering the first half and both teams lacking confidence. The first mistake yesterday (gifting an open goal) meant we had to attack, this leads in to the second and definitely the third as we've had to commit more men forward. With WH we don't have those point winning saves. Take Tom heaton yesterday, pulled off a number of saves and then Burnley nick a last minute win. When Arsenal signed Cech they spoke about how he could be the difference of 11 points in the season. Playing Hennesey is setting us up with a disadvantage from the off. You can't coach instinct, he won't improve on his indecision. I hate to single out players, especially as he seems a decent lad! Edited by Salford eagle (15 Jan 2017 2.14pm)

Jules has that knack of making very important saves. I know it's silly, but against Swansea the winner wasn't Wayne's fault, but I really believe Jules would of somehow come up with the important save. Just my opinion. Jules has been a much much better goalie for us than Wayne will ever be. He's still our player and is fit and available to play. It seems a no brainer to at least give him a go in between the sticks. We're on a hiding to nothing at the moment. He has the ability to win us games as the last line of defence, as he has done many many times over the seasons he has been with us. We're at a critical point where we need heros to stand up and save us. Julian Speroni is just that.

Speroni in for Hennessey ? No thank you very much. Speroni has done well for us but at 37 his best years are behind him.

Sadly I suspect Speroni is past it. But it's got to the point where he can't be any worse than Hennessey. I think Hennessey's presence is reducing the confidence of his defence as well.

This has not happened. The question is Why?
