We are desperate for someone on the left.

My Juve supporting mate says that they are keen to keep him, although not as first choice which is why he's thinking of moving.

He'd certainly do a job this season, not sure about next though.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

Exactly - he cannot possibly be worse than what we are doing at the moment and given his experience, should be able to adapt to most styles of play. Much easier to get the right long term people in in the summer and work on integrating them into the team and tactics over that period - also prices are likely to be more sensible then, everyone must know how desperate we are at the moment and will quote accordingly.

An absolute no-brainer. Even if he's lost a yard of pace, his positioning, experience and leadership will be a massive boost.
Looks like it will be him, Schlupp and Jenkinson which is pretty good business. Would have loved to see Brady as well but we should be satisfied with those three in my opinion

All true.

Yes, he's not doing a bad job with Flamini so far, to be fair.

Also another player who contributes to the development of the rest of the squad. I know we all like to rubbish Adebayor, but it can have done Wickham and Campbell no harm training and playing with him.

I'm not sure Cabaye's ego will allow too much Flamini to rub off on him though

Probably true, but even he's started to look more useful in the short time Sam's been here.

Give it another six weeks or so, plus the new signings (hopefully!), and we won't recognise this team that was so abject in the PL in 2016. We probably won't be scoring as may goals, but we won't be losing 5-4 either.

Reports seem to be saying talks have been ongoing and could be complete as soon as tomorrow. Now this would excite me, he is a winner and has won nearly everything there is to win in the game. He would bring that mentality and experience to the club that would help our confidence issues. Really hope this happens.

One of the best players in the world in his prime. I'm sure he can still offer us lots.

So excited over this, what a signing!!

Hope he makes South London home for years to come! Coaching role once he finally does retire.

I hope I don't get excommuinicated but I thought Adebayor was good.

Expecting derision from my son I mentioned it and he said ' yes so do I'.

Have to lie down at this point.

Evra has experience and quality never mind his age bit surprised if we can prise him off Juve tho - hopefully straight in the team too.

When the bald eagle arrived I thought the same but he is still the classiest player I've ever seen in red and blue stripes.
