Trying to get Willo admit he was wrong is like arguing with a lawyer. He justified Clattenburg's cup final decisions at the time and now that Clattenburg has admitted he made a mistake, Willo is left high and dry - except that he can't admit it.
Refs and umpires (like me) make mistakes. Sometimes they are marginal calls, sometimes they are glaringly wrong, and cannot possibly be justified. In this latter case, we may be tired, we may lose focus, we are distracted, are worrying about a previous decision, we are affected by players' remarks. Even though we may recognise these factors, they can still catch us out.
Willo, as I have said before, is not remotely interested in these psychological factors. He is determined to believe that refs always make sound, rational decisions which can be justified on some way, even if they turn out to be mistakes. Willo needs to attend to the realities of officiating and not believe that refs are superhuman beings who might just occasionally get a marginal call wrong.
However, persuading Willo that he could be wrong himself is, as I say, akin to arguing with a lawyer who is paid to argue cases they may not believe in but are paid to argue them anyway.

Bangs head against wall.

Bollocks.

His job is to make sure that you get a fair game of football.

If you saw Clattenburg referee a game the other day you would have been impressed by the brilliant advantages he played. This is certainly not the first time I have seen him do it.In the interests of balance I have also seen other referees this season play terrific advantages.

Last time I saw Clattenburg referee a game the only thing that impressed me was his failure to dismiss a goalkeeper who kicked our player in the knee in the process of denying him a goalscoring opportunity through serious foul play.

From MC's first PL game CPFC v CFC in 20404 when Drogba scored his first PL goal, he has consistently been biased against CPFC. He may be a great referee for other games and teams but he ABSOLUTELY has wrecked ALL CPFC PL games he has officiated in AND admitted he made 2 huge errors AGAINST CPFC in the Cup Final in May.

How he missed the clear hold down by Prodl on Dann in the last 2 minutes at Watford as well as the Wilf "non-penalty" I still don't understand.

if and when he officiates a CPFC PL game at SP he will get a tough reception which I am afraid in my view, he fully deserves.

1. He never called them "Huge errors" and I for one don't consider them as such.

2. Definitely not enough contact on Zaha to warrant a penalty indeed arguably Zaha made contact with the defenders leg.One can imagine the furore on HOL if a penalty had been awarded against us for the same incident. There would be cries of "Cheat" and all that pillaver.

Really boring to hear everyone lamenting about 'another' Clattenburg anti Palace refereeing performance! Like he's actually got some kind of personal vendetta against us! Oh please!!!

All these things level out at the end of the season so get over it! FFS!!! So boring / tedious ... zzzzzzzz

This season, a disease is spreading through the Prem; players 'cleverly' seeking contact and inviting the foul. I have never witnessed it with such regularity (Man $hitty, take a bow here). A slight change in speed, a dangled leg, a little move across the challenging player; all of which happened (again) at Watford. Players are going down so easily it is pathetic and downright cheating. All over the pitch, Watford players were at it and almost always 'won' free kicks. (Htf do u actually 'win' a free-kick anyway?!). When Wilf (perhaps) did it in the box, somehow the ref, for the only time in the game, decrees it to be simulation! My teeth are now so gnashed that I am next appearing in The Beano.

Anyways, imho, Clattenburg is making far too many 'clever' and over-thought decisions and for the entire second half, had 22 players unsure if they were coming on going. That in itself showed that he was having too much impact on the game.

I have to give him one little bit of credit: towards the end, we chucked the ball in box, Benteke challenged(ish) for it and Prodl and Gomez subsequently writhed around on the floor, attempting to gain Benteke a 2nd yellow. MC pulled them both up and had a go at them.....surely for simulation?

Oh well, time to polish my slippers.

If both players had managed to get sufficiently clear of their defenders (who would of course been challenging them all the way) and shown the composure to beat the keeper, given where on the pitch the initial challenge occurred these would have been outstanding goals, not forgetting the fact that other opponents could well have dropped back and made things more difficult. It wasn't if the players were clean through on goal with just a keeper to beat !!!! Don't give me all this about Wickham getting clear - the whistle had gone and the defender had stopped. At the end of the day they were far from clear goalscoring opportunities.

I do find it strange that he hasn't been scheduled to referee/ruin a match down at Selhurst so far this season? I think he is consistently poor and can't wait to boo the Ed Sheeran fan boy!!!
