Some real deluded people on here, Am sure Mancini would love Selhurst and the set up. Its akin to Messi signing for us. never going to happen. Personally with what is out there i think he is a good appointment and in respect of getting the best out of players is similar to Pulis. Massive upgrade on Pardew. Massive upgrade?

What did he cheat or lie about? If you're referring to the England tape even the fa admitted he did not break any rules. As for being a slob..... he's fat, but that doesn't make him a slob. I think BFS is no different from a lot of managers. Football just reflects our society in that if you have money you have free reign to play fast and loose with rules to make yourself even richer; while in the real world people are told that times are hard and there is no money for things like Sure Start, pensions or care for the elderly. When it comes to the actual football field he has tactical nous. I don't think he would have got rid of Murray or Gayle or Jedi without making adequate replacements. I don't think we will be seen as the worst performing team in all the leagues this time next year. I wanted AP to succeed but he didn't. I'm not a monarchist but its all "The King is Dead, Long live the King" as far as I'm concerned. Edited by Bert the Head (23 Dec 2016 7.35pm)

I have never really liked Big Sam and his style of football; his win percentage in the Premiership is also underwhelming. However, he was considered worthy of the England job - it is probably only because he is damaged goods (and I'm sure a handsome pay deal) that we have been able to entice him. Since he is now our manager I will put my reservations to one side and get behind him - really hoping that it works out for us. COYP

Underwhelmed and a down grade on Pardew for me. Anyway not my call he is now our manager so he will get my support. Don't like him, never have and hoped he would never be anywhere near our club. Hey ho the Americans have spoken

Great appointment and the right one for us. Now things will change and we can start competing properly whilst getting the best out of the current group of players. A bit of tinkering by Sam in Jan will help too! Very happy with this news and wish him all the best! The futures looking good again!

I'm very happy that its a swift appointment. That substitution in the Manure game did it for me. Enough of Pardew. Big Sam has my support despite the Telegraph sting operation, the greedy muppet deserved the sack. I hope the team see it that way and give him a chance to make them better players. I think we should give Sam a chance and don't start by insulting him with a pathetic misguided Fat Sam tag. Parrot
