Its odd, but there isn't actually that many Muslims in the UK now, only around 5% of the UK population are Muslims (around 2.5m, of which 100,000 are converts). Its roughly doubled every decade (1991 to 2001 being the biggest jump I think).

But certainly, migration of Muslims really began in or around the late 70s. But its been pretty much doubling since the 60s.

But I suspect back then people who are now into hating on the Muslims, where hating on Blacks and Indians.

I think it inaccurate to suggest that there were significant numbers of any minority until the last 30 years. The immigrant population virtually doubled between the 2001 and 2011 census.

Not quite.

Bengalis, pakistanis, West Indians, Asians kicked out of Uganda to here, Indians, post WWII refugees and others: Reasonably significant numbers 1950-1980

Depends on what you call significant.

In the 1960's and 70's Black and Asian people were still a tiny minority. Seeing a black face on TV was still a novelty. Even in London, the vast majority of people were white.

Everyday vocabulary it just wasn't used. I probably never used the word 'muslim' myself until well into the 90's. It was all Islamic this and Islamic that. Not quite sure when, why or how it changed, the narrative, to 'muslims' but it did at some point. Probably 9/11.

It used to be pronounced Muzz-lim.

I suppose the Irish don't count then.

In a five month period there were 300,000 Irish people entered Britain. There were fewer people in the country then, so relatively a far higher proportion.

1)They were under-represented. Anyone watching TV back then might have thought they were living in a foreign country like Iceland.

2) They still are. Just a cursory glance at ethnic pop stats for the whole of London would tell you that.

Is that you Forrest? Stupid is as stupid does.

Seems here lies a reason why people get f***ed off with leftist elite, name calling when some one says something they don't agree with.
The constant denial of the Muslim gangs pimping out young white girls was so covered up for years and years
Because Were afraid of being labelled racist by the likes gusset and kermits of this world.
Is it right to try and stab ianyone being Muslim or not ...no its not f***ing idiots.
I have no doubt that there complete bellends out there with right wing nutcase views.
But so far none of them have beheaded a serving British soldier or blown up a bus.
Apart from that that who killed the poor MP,but one nutter,I would wager there are far more Muslim extremists in this country than right wing extremists.
Another 6 arrested today I believe in raids, and please read the whole post.

There were never any racist attacks before Brexit

According to some on here, there was no racism before June 24.

All part of their agenda to link Brexit with racism and the 'extreme right'.

And some of these people doing the accusing moved out of multicultural society years ago to live in a town with 740 compliant foreigners.

Very sad event. The Croydon area has suffered recently.

Thoughts to family. Let's hope the community is strong and rallies around this.

The May's britain part was tongue in cheek. I do think you can blame the vernacular around Brexit for allowing some buffoons to come out of the racist closet.

Well at this stage you can know nothing about who did this.

The attacker is described as a black man in his '30s.

Fits the usual profile of he 'extreme right'.
