Improvement is a general term - when we can see something tangible and maybe equal previous seasons points total?
Tangible so far is that we seem to be able to score goals but at the same time leak like a sieve at the back.
It is not about high expectations just gradual progression.
People have not invested $100,000,000 just to see us regress have they?

Like a lot of others on here, I was with Pardew until the Swansea game. So, if you like, I admit I was wrong.

I actually still think we’ll stay up with him in charge but only just and after a season of pain.

It has always been about whether there is a good replacement available. If there is, please snap him up. If not, let’s support Pardew and hope for the best.

A win at Hull is a must, otherwise he should go.
Cause we got a though program ahead and we can`t expect to mutch of them but Hull has to be beaten, I could settle for a draw but think we got to win this

This for me. He seemed like an ideal fit despite what the Geordies were warning us. In fact maybe a little bit because of it. Because everyone was saying what a basket case the Toon were and so it was going to make it even sweeter when we showed what could really be done when he was supported.

I wanted a former player, who held an important role in our history (even if he wasn't that good a player), to come in and turn us around.

The relationship with the chairman seemed a dream and he had positive long term ambitions.

But the problem is that even if he does well now (and even in this transition season, doing well should have been mid table with no real flirtation with relegation given the gross outlay on players) his arrogance, intransigence, and lack of humility make it almost impossible to really like him. I don't think there is much he can do to be fully redeemed in my eyes. I just feel like the relationship has run its course and everyone is just delaying the inevitable.

I don't think there is anything - short of a miraculous run that lifts us into upper mid table - that could turn around the negativity for me this season.

If he has a decent run, we end up 12th-15th, and then build on it next season, then that will start getting us back there.

If you look at the League Table today we are less than 6 points behind mid table.

I think we are all agreed that we should of got at least 6 points from those 6 recent defeats.
Schoolboy errors and Pardew errors.

The League is a Marathon not a sprint 24 games to go.

I say he should be left alone to get on with the job and results will come. He is an average Prem manager but then again we are an average Prem club so he's a good fit for us.
On a personal note I think it's time he realised he's average and wound his smug neck in a bit because his attitude is all wrong.
Average Al will keep us going.

I'm annoyed with him because, when he was appointed, I really, really wanted him to succeed (obviously, as long he's the manager, I still do) and it seemed he and Palace were a natural fit for each other. Over the last year, though, he's really put my nerves through the shredder and it was only after the Swansea game that I started to think enough was enough.

This is pretty much where I am/was.

Shame because I really wanted him to do well, and still do, but I'm not convinced he is a good manager.

Yes you keep on about those six points; would have, should have, could have. The fact is we didn't. As for marathons and sprints; Pardew has had half of last season, a pre-season, some expensive signings and four months of this season to get his second wind. It's beginning to look like he's hit the wall; let's all hope not.

I'm not sure whether that was supposed to be sarcastic or not

The other thing that needs to be considered is the January transfer window which isn't far away now. If we are just hovering above the relegation area or God forbid actually in it, are we likely to be able to attract the calibre of player that we need.

If not, a change of manager may be the only way to get the decent players in

Well if your correct he will get the Sack.
Then you can start moaning about the New Guy that Parish picks as soon as he loses a match.

The players have always grafted for Pardew throughout this slump which says that they still believe in the manager.

After Swansea I didn't want him out but didn't mind if Parish decided to sack him. After beating Southampton, a win at Hull gives him two free games against man united and Chelsea. A win at Watford gives him a free game at Arsenal. Lost against hull or lose the four games after hull will probably be where I say enough is enough.

The fixture list is kind to us in January and February and will probably decide if we're fighting relegation or pushing on to finish mid-table.

Pardew hasn't lost "a" match, he's lost too many and therein lies a huge difference
