Everyone is bemoaning losing him for a month but we could lose him permanently in the window. Dont forget he put in a transfer request before the end of the last window and theres been no talk of a pay rise for him. He cant be impressed with our efforts on the pitch either.

Played twice in meaningless games then dropped. He's playing his best for years and still doesn't get a shout - I can understand his frustration and desire to play at international level. This and the fact that he's playing alongside and consistently outperforming Townsend has in my view triggered Wilf's decision.

I still think that as we've brought him through, he owes his allegiance to us and shouldn't be going away mid-season for up to a month just because he hasn't been picked for England recently. I don't remember John Jackson or Jim Cannon behaving like this when they never got picked for their countries (although I suppose they didn't have Zaha's options). For me it's similar to those cricketers who miss part of the county season as they're picking up big wages in the IPL or some such.

This..If APs still around in Jan and we're still in this mess I can't see us hanging on to him.

They did come calling. He's already played twice for England. Switching allegiances cos you’re not currently getting picked shows how petulant he is and the fact that it will f*ck Palace over, just makes it worse. Like he did with Utd, was their player of preseason and then got left to rot. Sometimes players know what's right and that was our gain. he deserves to be playing international football and bar the 1st 2 or 3 games this season he has been streets above Townsend who has got a recall. Has added assists and goals this season plus his overall game has greatly improved, the only people we should be angry at are those picking the England squad overlooking one of the most consistent wingers this season.

Absolute pathetic from England though in my opinion. They should have secured Moses when he was young and he's now one of the best wing backs in the league, now we've lost Zaha as well. Why? Because somehow Jesse f***ing Lingard is a more appealing option. England's setup is somewhat similar to a piece of wood that has sunk into a peat bog ..never to see the light of day again, so it's quite fortunate for them really that they go elsewhere and us of course. Have a look at poor Vardy now, he used to be quite good at scoring.

I started this thread because it's bad news for us, but how anyone is blaming Wild and saying he is letting us down is astounding. He has been let down by the FA and the last few England managers. It's all very well bemoaning the state of the national game but if they are gonna pick the same sort of players and let genuinely different, talented and in form players slip through the net then f*** them. I haven't given a toss about England for a long time but now I actively am feeling negative towards the team and the setup. Zaha should be playing for England it's a travesty. Fair play to him I hope he wins the AFCON and I will be supporting the Ivory Coast. Honestly if it was England vs IVC I'd support them.

Mark Chapman on 5live just said his understanding is that Wilf won't be going to AFCON and will stay with Palace instead.

I am more concerned we will be losing Wilf for good come the January window. Playing out of his skin, for us or future employer?
Just when I thought that I was out...........they pull me back in |

Good on him; the England setup is a f***ing waste of time at the moment, with good players being ignored in favour for other ones. Wilf is a Palace player, and to be honest, it's England's loss and I wish him all the best playing for quite a good Ivory Coast side.
