Er, we had noticed!

Ridiculous statement for Pardew to make.

In order to win a game you obviously have to score at least one more goal than the opposition. Leaking goals at your end will inevitably make that more difficult.

Our goal-scoring is almost top four (very entertaining), but our goal-conceding is close to bottom three (not the slightest bit entertaining). If Pardew can't achieve a balance between entertainment upfront and parsimony at the back, which he apparently has no interest in doing, then we'll be relegated and he therefore, has to go.

For me this sums up Pardew's attitude to a lot of stuff - especially from 30 seconds onwards. "Pardew you're sinking" :-)

Let's all bow down to the mighty ultras!

There's nothing entertaining about seeing us ship 3 or 4 goals every week. He's talking as though we're the great entertainers of the league, playing some swashbuckling style that will see us ship goals because we commit so many players forward on our endless gung-ho attacks. If that were the case then I could accept it.

The reality, though, is that we are conceding goals through defensive disorganisation and needless lapses in concentration. Our attacking football is alright at times, usually when Zaha is on the ball, but otherwise we are largely restricted to lumping it into the box for Benteke or long range punts from Townsend.

Since when were attacking threat and defensive solidarity mutually exclusive concepts by the way? It's as if our only two options are having Pardew leak goals for fun or having Pulis and playing 8 defenders. In reality I'm fairly certain there is actually a middle ground in there somewhere considering that we do actually have some quite decent players.

We were somewhere around Barstow, on the edge of the desert, when the drugs began to take hold...

That's only useful if any of them play at the back

I was going to say that's ok as for 45 minutes a week at home, at least they stay behind him....then there was this....

I don't take too much notice of Pardew's statements in the media as he often expresses himself clumsily and you are not always sure that he means it to come out that way. What matters to me is what I see on the pitch and the first 15 minutes plus Burnley's winner on Saturday was embarassing. You would expect better defending from a school team. From the stand at the other end of the pitch you could see that no-one was tracking their runners for the first goal. Why is that not obvious to the well-paid players on the pitch who spend all week (we are let to assume) preparing for the game?

Having said that we played very well in the second half. My Burnley supporting mate who I went for beer with after the game thought we were the better team and were unlucky. We are the top scoring team outside the top five which is definite improvement.

Notwithstanding what Pardew is alleged to have told the media we need to tweak the team at least to tighten up at the back. Macarthur should be playing the same defensive midfield role as he did in the first half of last season alongside Cabaye with Puncheon back in the number 10 role. We desperately need a left back and possibly a right back in the transfer window. I hope Pardew can sort it out asap because changing managers is disruptive, but the fact is that his league record in the last calender year is abysmal and this cannot be allowed to go on. For me he is on borrowed time.

Didn't Arsenal secure a few league titles with many 1-0 wins and labelled boring boring Arsenal?

I was really confident of having a good season till i heard this, without being able to get clean sheets, pressure grows, and nerves come to the fore if we are 1-0nill up 10mins to go, clean sheets are of paramount importance
