Cliff Holton I agree, another who unfortunately was not great with ball to feet but truly outstandin with his head was Tommy White, often went in with his head when he should have kicked it

Alan Lee was very good in the air - s***e at everything else mind. Would agree Benteke is the best I've seen at Palace, certainly in terms of attackers.

I was very young at the time but cliff Holton was impressive as was mike deakin. But I agree that Benteke is up there as one of the most impressive strikers we've had and I'm confident in saying that having only seen him play a few games for us.

Funny you should mention that, I remember it too. I can't remember who it was against but, if it was indeed Chelsea, then it was on 7th February 1970 in the FA Cup, a game we lost 1-4. The one I'm remembering was at the. Holmesale end. i've never posted a link before so I hope this works - Roger Hoy's brilliant header on a very muddy Selhurst Park pitch!

..this was the 2-0 and huge crowd, I was 17 and squashed into Whitehorse end, probably the best game because of the team we had and the prospect of playing in the big league, the next season I had to witness the worst game I've ever had to watch against southampton...where they killed our beautiful game with their utter disgusting play and got themselves a 0-0 completely against the run of play by fouling and cheating at every opportunity, hate them more than man.u, we had such a brilliant team and every club we played did the dirty and destroyed our football, it was evil!.....and FFS had a great bonce for heading.

Thanks for the clarification - just googled it to be sure and seems we are right - I hope this isn't the high point of my day but suspect it might be...
