I hope he comes back and surprises us because in the second half of the season he looked like he was playing at one of those celebrity matches where everyone is carrying a beer gut and they get an ironic cheer when they don't fall over the ball. I think he would need at least a dozen matches to get match fitness based on his previous slow recovery and I just can't see that happening. As to being a good option off of the bench I strongly disagree. He clearly is incapable of playing a bit part role and looked knackered after five minutes when he was a sub last season. Played regularly he may improve, but I don't think he's good enough to be given that time. Barring an injury to Townsend or Zaha I think his days are numbered. Due to the African Cup of Nations I'm not sure we'll be able to swap him for Silva in January either.

Personally, I think he's the best crosser we have. Can't remember the game last season at Selhurst, but I think he came on as a second half sub and put cross after cross into decent areas in the box, only for no one to gamble and get on the end of them. I think he'll benefit massively from having Benteke and Remy (hopefully) making runs into the danger areas.

Even if he can cross a ball he just wasn't mobile enough last season,he got caught the wrong side far too often when we were defending. Our system relies on everyone doing their job when defending so we keep our shape and prevent pockets of space or channels that can be exploited.Wide players need enough pace to go past defenders on the outside if they are to be effective in the PL and he simply didn't do it enough last year.If he had a few more tricks up his sleeve he might get away with it but he really doesn't.If he has worked hard and lost weight then he deserves a chance at least and maybe trying him in the hole behind Benteke may see him in a better light but I maintain we may well be looking to offload his wages in January if we look to spend big on an attacking midfielder. The unfit Sako should be nowhere near our Squad but the guy who played in those first few games is a good player, got to give him a chance to prove it was just the injuries that lost him his condition.

Yes when we signed him he looked like he would provide good competition for Bolaise and Zaha. He started well and i thought he was going to get into the first 11. I remember he had a decent game in the away win at Chelsea.

Sako also lost us a few games along the way and his performance levels in general were far too poor for a lot of the season. Sako needs to show much better defensive awareness and fitness levels this season. I just wonder that possibly he could and we'd have a very decent player. Let's see if AP can work his magic, if not sell him next summer..
