So is this any worse than banks providing subsidised mortgages for staff.

A pal of mine has an interest free mortgage from his employer and guess his house must be going up in value...

How many on here have used a nice juicy annual bonus to put down a deposit?

Nope that's called a perk. A bit like working for a company where you get them. RE Starbucks in the USA even if you work part time you get health care paid.

Len McCluskey's election opponent is suspended just after leadership ballot closes:

Union democracy is fascinating.

Suspended from his union role. But he is still a member so up to now he is still in the leadership contest. Voting had closed before the suspension so it won't affect how ballots were cast.

"Len McCluskey's London flat", I thought half man half biscuit had released an album.

Len and Seumas celebrating Len's win, in a manner that will no doubt connect them to the hearts of every Unite member and core Labour voter:

I'm struggling to understand why 'lefties' aren't allowed to spend money.

Must try harder Guido.

(H)elgrande, that's twice today now. Council leaders shouldn't be allowed a decent salary and if you're a lefty you should be denied a night out drinking champagne after winning a leadership election.

What's your reasoning behind this as saying someone shouldn't be allowed to. Splash out a bit when celebrating seems a strange thing to get worked up about.

BTW I prefer cava myself.

Ooh look Gusset's drinking something from Spain. That makes him an unpatriotic EU apologist who doesn't care if Spain get Gibraltar. Saved you the job Hrolf.

So McCluskey wins on a turnout of just 12%. And these are the people who thought the Brexit vote was unfair.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham
