Hmmm, lot of money. Personally I'd rather we pursued kortney hause and Dominic iorfa and get those two for the same money. I was impressed with what I saw of them both last season.

My guess is that Palace want a good seasoned PL performer (Tomkins) who can slot in right away and still have 'loose change' enough in these times of financial dreamland, to buy a promising younger CB who they could bring along at a slightly slower pace? If it were Hause it would be soap opera time since Wilf is having an 'affair' with his girl friend!

Reported on Sky Sports News Transfer Centre: 11:23 TOMKINS CLOSES ON PALACE MOVE Sky sources understand that James Tomkins has not travelled with the rest of the West Ham squad for their pre-season tour of America ahead of a proposed move to Crystal Palace. A fee between the clubs is yet to be agreed. Palace value Tomkins at around £6m, but West Ham are hoping to secure close to £12m for the defender. Tomkins, who came through the youth ranks at West Ham, made 32 appearances last season for Slaven Bilic's side.
