When i was younger i played Bobby Fischer in an en masse speed game in John Keats house in Hampstead and then went on to watch England vs Australia at Lords in the afternoon.

Excellent!

Just to make you all jealous (and be a bit Willo-ish)

I once played golf with Ivan Lendl and Tony Roche (his coach at the time)

Both were left handers.

I'm left handed too, as is my playing partner Mike. We used to play at Henbury, Bristol, but my Parkinsons prevents me now.

We noticed them behind us and were hitting their balls a huge distance, so we let them play through at a short par 3.

Both were very chatty and said what a weird thing it was to see 4 left handers tee off at golf, so we all played the hole together. By fcuk was I nervous teeing off though and managed to hit it just off the green. They peppered the flag, holed out for a birdie each and said goodbye.

I also met Bjorn Borg at a Heathrow Airport bar lounge waiting for a plane to LA (funnily enough with Mike I mentioned above).

I was having a beer and he came and sat at our table with his beautiful girlfriend.

Bizarre experience that one!

Back in the 70s, I saw the New York Cosmos play Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. The Cosmos had Pele, Cruyff, Beckenbauer and Bobby Moore. All in the twilight of their careers but awesome all the same.

Wife beating may be socially acceptable in Sheffield, but it is a different matter in Cheltenham

I saw the 1994 WC Quarter Final between Brazil and Holland. Looking at the line-ups, though, it's not like they were packed with superstars.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football.

For my 16 yo old son's birthday, I took the family to Barcelona for the Champs League match with Athletico match on Tuesday. So my answer's Messi. Shame he didn't score that overhead kick, that was right in front of us.
He held his palace scarf up at the TV camera each time it came near us.

I remember George Best when Fulham played Palace in the second division during the 77/78 season. Unfortunately, he was a donkey by then and broke Ian Evans leg during that match.

Fulham also had Rodney Marsh and Bobby Moore playing for them in the previous season. Best went off to play in America for his swan song shortly thereafter.
