Very rich people do have a tendency to circumvent the law. Usually because they can afford to pay off the accuser (who will more likely bring a civil charge for damages rather than a criminal charge), or hire the best defence. Or they have the right friends, that make the police and CPS wary of pursuing a prosecution (journalists, politicians, senior police officers, judges or Jimmy Savile).

did the news report give his ethnicity and religion or is that only for migrant offenders? Were those people who refused to let a gay couple stay in there B&B migrants? Or the ones who refused to bake a pro gay marriage cake?

Unsurprisingly he won't be playing Saturday.

He's pleaded guilty to grooming. The sexual activity with a minor he pleaded guilty to relates to kissing her. It seems the other two charges probably relate to sexual intercourse (which he pleaded not guilty to). My guess is his defence is that he 'didn't go through with it'. I suspect his brief thinks it unlikely that he'd get a custodial for those two offences alone. Where as if he had sex with her, knowing she was under 16, and had 'groomed' her, he's going to prison.

I doubt it'd help him much, Sunderland's defence is probably as bad as his.

He's just been sacked by Sunderland. Good on Sunderland to not allow scum to play for them.

Cost Sunderland £10million when they signed him from Man City only 3 years ago. What a huge loss for the club but at least they have principles, unlike their disgraced, former player. He scored against Liverpool last weekend and his sacking will not help their fight against relegation.

If anyone goes back and reads my "defense" post on the first page, please note I did no research and was simply offering an alternative. Now the facts of what he has pleaded guilty to are out there, I obviously do not condone or support or offer any excuse. The silver lining for Sunderland fans though, they will now stay up. Apparently Johnson was purposely throwing games because he misunderstood what it meant to be relegated to the 'minor leagues'.

I'm guessing Johnson has a good couple of years left on the contract, which Sunderland paid £10m for the privilege of offering.

I see his partner arrived at court with him. She looks attractive. Always amazed when women stand by their man when they've strayed. I think she had their child around the time of the offence so I guess she's trying to make it work for the sake of their child. Fair play to Sunderland for doing the right thing.

We don't do possession; we do defense and attack. Everything else is just wa**ing with a football. |
