A stockbroker urged me to buy a stock that would triple its value every year. I told him, at my age, I don't even buy green bananas! |

Given that January can be a disruptive time to recruit, all I'd really like to see is a forward option. Maybe Austin, maybe someone a little bigger. I think we can cover elsewhere fine.

As for Chamakh I think he has been terrific for us but (1) any new contract offer has to depend on how much he plays in the next 20 games and (2) if he still wants to go back to France to end his career.

I see some interesting things on this post regarding bringing in and letting players go. Traditionally this window has been used to strengthen with 1 or 2 players and I cant see it being too much different, especially with the way that Pardew has been talking. I think Bamford back to Chelsea is a given, and I doubt there will be any complaints as he has been a disappointment which is a shame. I will say that in terms of wingers, I would give KaiKai a shot, I know he is unproven however, he is a great young player and we are known for trying young players, give him substitute appearances and let him build up confidence and see if he is ready to progress. For a striker, I would go for Slimani, from Sporting Lisbon, but I fear that the money would be too much for Palace, and they are top of the Portugese league so he may wish to stay there. If not him, I would go for possibly Moussa Dembele or Batschuayi from Marsaille. Theres nothing cheap and if you see a premier league team coming in, the valuation goes up by 10-15%

I'd look at offloading Campbell and Friers. (Bamford can also leave if he doesn't want to fight for a place.) And bring in a striker and/or a Nr 10. Until we have a striker who's firing them in, we'd be stupid to sell Gayle... Ridiculous so many people think it's time to part ways with him. Defensive cover is needed but better deals can be done in the summer I think.

At the risk of sounding like a xenophobe, I don't want us spending (for us) big money on any foreigners unless they have played over here already. That's not to say we shouldn't look for a bargain but I don't think we are yet in a position where we are spending £10mill+ for an PL untried player.

The priority at present is more punch up front. We have got away with a couple of 0-0s in the last two games as we have defended well.Concede a goal and we will be in trouble.Unless we get extra "Firepower" in asap we will steadily drop down the table.
