Tom-the-eagle Flag Croydon 10 Mar 16 1.21pm

To me it was the Blackburn playoff final.

I know we have beaten bigger clubs however this game really seemed to resonate with me. It’s as though the club had taken a giant step forward and looking at the players coming through at the time there seemed to be a huge sense of optimism for the future which seemed to echo my own life in my late teens at the time.

I actually found the game on a VHS video a few years ago at a car boot sale however I have nothing to play it on!

Wrexham 1977 4-2 is the most dramatic and exciting of the lot. Seen through the eyes of a 13 year old.

Hence my monicker!

Followed by:

Liverpool 4-3
Brighton 2-0
Stockport 1-0
Blackburn 3-0

A new era of total football is on the way to Selhurst Park!!

I would've bet my mortgage on that game being your first choice

Green Giant Flag I'm Mr Meseeks. Look at me. 18 Mar 16 9.46pm

The humiliation of Scousepool at Villa Park.
After travelling to Anfield that night in Septembre..that's French for September, we owed them scum.
Best Palace game I've ever been to. And that includes all the play offs and ZDS final.

Still got the ticket stub too. The 9-0 massacre as well.

Fear Watford?
I don't fink so.

Lots I guess but seeing...

"Wrexham 2 Crystal Palace 4" on the evening news in 1977 has to be up there...followed by "Mansfield 1 Wrexham 0" on the Saturday....which meant we were up....and we haven't been at that level since....

I was there. As a 12 yr old Wrexham fan

My older brother and brother in law and all their mates were at the Wrexham game.
If I could turn back time like Cher then I would've wanted to go to that game.
Was it Chesterfield that lost that got us up?

1-0 watford.

I have been lucky enough to be at two of these games. I would honestly swap one,if not both, to have been at the Brighton 2-0 game.

It was Mansfield who beat Wrexham 1-0 in their final game (on the Saturday after we'd beaten them in midweek in our final game). Wrexham had to beat Mansfield - we were 1 point ahead of Wrexham and our 4-2 win had just given us a superior goal difference - we were THREE goals inferior to them prior to our two goal victory). Mansfield had already been promoted as champions, the seaweed finished second.
