Found out this morning, my car is on the list for re-call. Hopefully I'll get a shiny new vehicle. I'll likely get a two year wait to get it "fixed..."
It wouldn't surprise me if they try to make you sign a waiver that the recall "fixes" all of the issues and so you have no further recourse.

I very much doubt whether that is true for the majority of people although Green Party members might be the exception. People have a range of different priorities when buying a car with looks, performance and economy having a lot of importance and handling and comfort being up their too but I doubt whether the amount of NOX given out is considered at all and I doubt whether most owners would even know anything about the legal levels for NOX emissions or how much their car was supposed to be emitting

Corporate governance in Germany needs a jolly good shake up. This plus earlier Bribery issues at VW, Deutsche Bank is so under capitalised that it's almost funny.
Not completely accurate, Compliance is a tool that is used as part of ensuring Corporate Governance Compliance should be a regulatory function, operating within the 1st and 2nd line, Corporate Governance operates at entity level along with ethics. Problem with German businesses that I've worked in is insufficient independent challenge at Board level, in particular too many employees on the supervisory Board. The new bloke VW have bought in is ex VW!!

"Germany - Poisoning people with gas for over 100 years." It's no "Vorsprung durch technik" is it?

I can't see a quick technical fix to this. Any VW's will doubtless lose performance after recall. I can visualise this being the end of VW. But also with big-payouts for the execs, and a lot of lower staff being either held accountable, or made redundant.
I disengage, I turn the page. |

Piech knew about the scandal (allegedly) and made comments to the press at the Frankfurt motor show. Piech has been briefing the press (again allegedly) and used this as an opportunity to get his own man back at the top of VW after being ousted himself. Piech has said for years that VW are inefficient but was never able to slim down the workforce due to political & family reasons. This is his revenge, he sees Toyota as being the perfect role model, they make less cars but more profitable, he wants to drive similar efficiencies

Bit confused as to how it wouldn't affect performance figures too.

Bit confused as to how it wouldn't affect performance figures too. Probably at the expense of it's fuel economy.

I have a vw maxi caddy and I got the letter the other day saying that mine is one of the emission cheating cars. Got to wait for a 'technical solution to be developed' atleast it stats the the work carried out is free. Might see if they will give it a clean while they have it
