Don't rate him. Can't see him banging in the goals but hope he proves me wrong. Doubt It tho...p

Didn't realise he was still so young. Hopefully he will improve with age.

Please don't tell me we are letting Murray go and replacing him with Wickham Hardly the 15 goal a season striker we was looking for. If we let Murray go we are left with a striker who's record is about 1 goal in 8 and an unproven in the premiership chelsea youngster. Oh and Campbell.

Underwhelming.

He's young and English which is positive. On the other hand, I don't think he's actually that good, is he?

Sat here all day with a gut feeling we were going to make a signing and must have checked the boards 100 times. Just about to go to bed (01:00 here) so one last quick look and I see this news.

He will be a fantastic signing - just the player we need. He will revel in playing as a central striker and I never understood what the point of playing him wide was.

I see him as a 15 goal a season striker, great work ethic and considerably better option than many that have been mentioned such as Gestede; Rhodes; Austin; Adeybayor and the host of foreign names.

No idea of the agreed fee but Sunderland were talking of 10 million this time last year after he had signed his new contract with them. I am going to guess around 8,000,000 plus add ons.

I will sleep well and happy tonight.

Lucky we kept this under the radar, could see the likes of West Ham, West Brom even Everton being in for him. Under a decent manager he is electric! Shocked Sunderland accepted our deal, not in a good place letting their star names go.

I still can't help but think our priority should be a new CB, especially with the addition of Bamford.

Still time to go mate! I'm sure Pards knows we need a new CB, reckon one'll be coming in soon.

Hope so. This has come as a bit of a surprise to the majority, fingers crossed for another!

This mentions a fee in the region of £10m...probably a total guess, but personally I would much rather Palace fork out for a good young striker who will only get better. He will, really flourish (cross fingers!) with two brilliant wide players and CMs like Cabaye, but also Puncheon, Lee and Much.

I'm a little disappointed we haven't gone for Austin but I'm happy with Wickham. A friend of mine reminded me that Austin has got an injury concern with his knees. Austin is a great striker, but he maybe one big injury away from being finished. Wickham isn't prolific, but has potential. Can't wait for the start of the season

Why would AP take Murray to South Africa if he plans to let him go right now? I think that Murray & Wickham will interchange, substitute each other depending on injury/form etc. A back-up for Murray is needed and this is a fantastic signing.

Really depends on the specifics of this one. Not opposed to it on principle. If it's only a moderate outlay and means Campbell is being sold / loaned then I'm okay with it. If it's a large fee and Murray is going then I'd be pretty disappointed.

Young, English, hard working with International and Premier League experience.

Has scored goals in the Premier League despite being stuck out on the wing last season.

Plus he's a big lump!

Will fit in on the team spirit front and has something to prove.

What is not to like?

Depends on the price I think. If we're spending Austin price levels then I'll be disappointed to get Wickham instead. If it saves us ~£7m+ and therefore also allows us to bring in a CB I'll be pretty happy as I'm currently a bit worried that we're one Scott Dann injury away from a not especially solid back 4
