I wouldn't see him as a massive upgrade on what we already have and at £8million is far too much for a player who wasn't even a main centre back in a relegated team. If we really want to push on we should be aiming higher then James Chester IMO.

Not for £8m for me. Not £8m worth of player. I dunno with prices these days. Villa spend £10m on some unknown defender recently. At least we know Chester has a PL pedigree. I think that Chester only played in half of Hull's games both last season and the season before. Think that was due to injury rather than he lack of PL quality though. Perhaps. But IF his appearances have been curtailed due to injury then he has hardly been an established PL player for the last couple of seasons, besides why go for someone with such an injury record ?

Although the one the previous year seemed to be a recurring injury, last seasons was a dislocated shoulder. Not a lot you can do about that.

Caulker over Chester everyday for me! Why not both? Bit of competition for CB, those two plus DD and SD. Would be nice to have good injury cover and players knowing they have to perform week in week out to stay in the team.
Why would anyone chose to be a Seagull? The Eagle is a far superior creature. The Seagull lives under it's damp pier meekly looking out, blinded by the sheer quality of the Eagle's palace. |

Leroy Fer was relegated 2 seasons in a row, but he is still a good player too.
