I'm saying that I mistrust anyone who allows their life to be ruled by the teachings in what I consider to be faulted or flawed books. Does that answer your questions? Not really, because all the way through this thread you've implied that you believe that if someone is a Muslim, then they are going to be a religious devotee. That is no more true than it is of Christians or any other religion. I'm a Christian and a regular Church goer. When have I ever thrown my beliefs down the throat of anyone on these boards? Do you now mistrust me?
Goodness is what you do. Not who you pray to. |

It's very different to the way christians describe themselves, again, as you well know. I sense that you know my answer to these questions before you ask them....

The problem is not religion itself, but how people interpret and use religion to meet their own ends. And as people are basically greedy, virulent and stupid and will always look to use religion to justify their nefarious actions, we're f*cked. We can't eradicate religion, history has taught us that, and even then it's doubtful that it would do any good as people would still remain, and we're the problem. We're ignorant, hateful b******s all of us.

A Muslim (and no, I don't know why there are two spellings or if they deserve a capital letter - perhaps someone could enlighten me!) is someone who observes the teachings of Mohammed and the Koran. Whether they attend the mosque, or follow the teachings, festivals and rites strictly, or try to impose those teachings on others, or deliberately misinterpret passages in order to create hatred is up to the individual. That is the same as every religion - not all Christians attend church, not all Sikhs refrain from cutting their hair and wear turbans, not all Jews celebrate Yom Kippur. And in the same way not all Muslims are indoctrinated by religion. I still believe that your views of this particular religion and those who belong to it are unfounded.
Goodness is what you do. Not who you pray to. |

dumbass?! act your age cucking How can my saying that I mistrust people who swallow whole the fabricated and turgid nonsense that the bible and the koran are be interpreted as sweeping? Ok, in answer to your question.... first of all I have lots of acquaintances but very few 'friends'.... the word 'friend' is, in my view, one of the most misused words in the English language. I interpret a friend as someone with whom I'm comfortable, someone whom I can trust and someone whom I can tell anything, be that what I feel, fear or whatever. In answer to your question, I couldn't be friends with someone who lives his/her life as described above. Acquaintance, perhaps, but certainly not friends. How could I be, if we were such poles apart?

I'm Arabic from my dads side, English from my mums side. Im a Muslim. But im not a 'religious devotee'. I would call myself Bahraini or English before i called myself Muslim. The fact that you have sterotyped every Muslim into being as religious as they come is complete bollox.
