I was at school with SoM guitarist Ben Gunn, aka Benjamin Matthews. I shared this information with kermit8 a while ago and he was very excited, being as he is a big SoM fan.

I don't actually like their music but am contractually obliged to drop Ben's name into any conversation about Sisters of Mercy which I come across.

That's pretty cool!

That's what kerm thought, but as a non-fan, to me he'll always just be Ben Matthews my old school pal, rather than rock legend Ben Gunn, who I have no connection with.

If you had said Tony James (Sisters of Mercy, Generation X, Sigue Sigue Sputnik) I'd have had to mop the floor under my desk.

I saw Tony James a few years ago when he teamed up with Mick Jones on Carbon Silican. They put on an awesome show. They seem pretty inactive these days though?

I saw they were at Glastonbury years and years ago but never managed to find them to go and watch

I saw Tony James with Sigue Sigue Sputnik several years ago. I think they had a big fall out though yet the singer still seems to parade as SSS and so do the others. I'm sure I've seen both parties advertise that they are the REAL Sigue Sigue Sputnik!

Batcave (not me, I was too young).

The Electric Ballroom (Friday Night)

Slimelight (Islington - All nighter on Saturdays).

Epitaph - Sheffield Hallam University

Whitby Goth Festival (twice).

Gossips - Thursday nights in Soho

We had the Hungry Years in Brighton (possibly named after the SGC song?) and they claimed to have a Goth night 1 Friday in every 4. I think they used to play Bela Lugosi's Dead and Temple of Love and everything else was just the usual nu-metal! Still, I did spend a good 10 minutes fondling a big goth girl's bottom through her velvet dress whilst chatting up another goth girl because I thought her backside was a pile of bags that was in my way....so it wasn't all bad.

If I was setting up an Irish tribute band I would call it "The Sisters of Murphy".

(I'll get me donkey jacket)

You were beaten to it, I saw the 'Sisters of Murphy' play at Whitby Goth Festival in 1999.

If I was setting up a Liverpool FC Goth Band I'd call it Sisters of Mersey.

Including hits such as

Temple of Lovren
Ibe Was Wrong

I thought I'd have more ideas than that...
