Rather than going on strike, the bus drivers should insist all passengers ride for free. That'd make the bus companies take more notice. Having said that, I support the strikes. The disparity in pay is amazing. As for those saying drivers should leave and join the better paying companies... What decade are you living in? Didn't some other union in Europe do this? Maybe the French underground, seem to remember they carried on working but simply opened all the barriers, seems like a winner No one pays on buses anyway, they have Oyster and season tickets
Do you want us to just throw some more debt on the pile? Things have to be paid for.

I've been out and about today and gone past 3 depots where the bus w***ers (Unite) are on strike. At each site there was a police car, with police officers sitting in it, watching nothing happen. I do hope they're being made to pay the costs in a similar vein that football clubs are forcibly charged for it, whether they want them or not.
But still waaaaaaaay behind the public resources spent bailing out the bankers DUE TO THEIR GREED. And now the bankers are all rich again but you're having a gripe about those who contributed to their wealth? Resources that will be paid back, in full, with profit. The use of "bankers" should now be an automatic disqualification from a coherent argument. You talk of a coherent argument yet deny the facts regarding the banking system?

It would be worse for customers. If you can get a freebee in this country you would. If buses in London were free for just one day & one day only there would be carnage. Buses would be rammed with day trippers who wouldn't usually get the bus.

I was a bit pissed yesterday when I had to walk back home in the freezing cold after a long day but I didn't feel as agreived as I normally would had it been the tube on strike. No question being a bus driver is waaay more stressful than on the tube.

The use of "bankers" should now be an automatic disqualification from a coherent argument. In theory - In reality, I suspect the so called profit will not really equate to much more than depreciation, and certainly won't account for an actual real profit, compared to the losses incurred to the public such as seen in public services etc. It'll be a mark up on the capital lent, it won't be a profit, the nation will still make a staggering loss in real terms.

You support free public transport and unsustainable over-generous public sector pensions?

I ran to work from old Coulsdon to Croydon and back yesterday. At 7pm there were no pickets at South Croydon bus garage. All nice and cosy at home I expect.
