Question should probably be whether it's the ideology here that has caused the problem, or just the fact that middle class hippies aren't the most efficient administrators of a council.

I'd say given that their recycling rates are so guff, it's probably the latter.

A valid point. I always imagine their council meetings are a bit like the parish meetings in the Vicar of DIbley.

I like the Greens though.

One of their new MEPs cracks me up. She's essentially the answer to "imagine a green MEP":

And maybe lots of people have died for one reason or another due to an over reliance on oil too. But nevermind that.

Edited by sanitycheck (06 Dec 2014 2.36pm)

Yeah....get rid of oil and see what difference it makes to the death rate.....What's the point of saying stuff like that?

Where did I say anything about getting rid of oil? We don't need to re-invent a person's point of view just because they state a truth.

Edited by sanitycheck (06 Dec 2014 3.40pm)

What truth are you stating and what's the point of it? As far as I can tell you simply made a silly point about oil that takes the discussion nowhere.

I'm moaning at you for making a silly statement.

Mmmmm.....The phrase 'bottomless pit' comes to mind.

Too many people in this country....GP's contracts ridiculously high with similarly ridiculously high demands and expectations placed on them which highlight incompetent planning on provision that is decades old......The same for public/private contracts sucking up valuable cash.....I could go on but you get the message.

Unfortunately for you lad, we have a thing called democracy operating in this country where people can think for themselves. Therefore, I will have my views and you have yours.

Apart from the 25% Tory, and please no one think I am a free thinking beatnik radical by the result, I am happy with that result.

If the green party actually based their policies on the science available I'd vote for them. Unfortunately they tend to pander to the conspiracy theorists too much, and prevent our agricultural industry implementing technologies that genuinely do reduce our environmental impacts in a safe fashion. Once they get their heads out of Greenpeace's arse and learn to actually look at things from a pragmatic perspective (both in terms of technology and economics) they could be pretty decent.

Trouble is the democracy we have is broken. Awareness of this is growing at pace. Our political elite of all colours do not strive to serve us, but to control us (with fear and hate) as they see fit and to not upset those they really serve. The wealthy chums from private school and leaders of massive businesses. The people you say 'think for themselves' on the whole don't. They believe the red tops, the bbc, some still believe politicians!!

When true democarcy is afforded and the real issues discussed (not immigration, terrorism, the poor and unrepsresented as the cause of financial meltdown and oil/power led wars - the previously mentioned fear and hate) then we can truly talk about views and people thinking for themselves.

It's a proven fact low tax economies raise more tax overall.
