Remember Budgie running up the pitch v Torquay (1960), Playing keepie-upsie on their penalty spot. Palace were 1-0 with 5 minutes left. Such a piss take, but Budgie only wanted Palace to get the points in those uncertain times and then he went to Spammers and England, only being dislodged by Geof (hat trick) Hurst.

For those of my era lucky enough to see him then
Johnny 'Budgie' Byrne wins hands down.

But always thought if we had had Atilio Lombardo at the peak of his career he might have come second in the list - unfortunately we only had him at the tail end and for a short period but his vision and skill was in the top drawer.

no Keepers ... We have had 3 class keepers in past 30 years.. any other club they be legends .

Julian Speroni and Nigel Martyn, help me out, I'm struggling with the other one???
And keepers don't really qualify as 'exciting' do they?

John Jackson perhaps

In the last 30 years though??

One player no one has mentioned if you want exciting players is Sasha Curcic.

He may have been a pain in the arse at times, but he was bloody exciting......what a wasted talent.

Exciting, and based on sheer excitement rather than how long they were Palace players (and obviously that I have personally seen):

Ian Wright
Attilio Lombardo
Rachid Harkouk
Peter Taylor
Wilfried Zaha

Sydenham by birth. Selhurst by the Grace of God.

Only been around since the late '80's so :

1. Andy Johnson
2. Wilf Zaha
3. John Salako
4. Ian Wright
5. Darren Ambrose

Once we knew what they all were capable of just the sheer anticipation when they were on the ball was worth watching for !

Honourable mention: Lombardo, if only we had a better team around him it would've been special !

Peter Taylor , those twists and turns where something else, no wonder he had hip trouble .

Jerry Murphy , One of the best young players we ever produced , injury cut his career short after he moved on to the scumbags .

Charlie Cooke , A wing wizard who somehow always managed to get his cross in

Ian Wright , I remember his first few games and thought he was a muppet he ran like Bambi on ice ,often in the wrong direction . Of course when he started to put the ball in the net every week he grew on me .(LOL)

Yanick Bolasie , so refreshing to see direct running and skill in todays football of athletic robots , and hes always smiling .

That's my 5 ,there the guys who got/get me on my feet , stretched my neck for a better view as a kid in case I missed something and generally just made me happier when they were/are in the team
