Personally if we are to go for a Blackburn striker I would go for Rhodes. I think the asking price will be lower given he is not always playing and I think he is more of a natural goalscorer.

Blackburn signed him for £8m, and he's only increased in value since then.

Would cost close to, if not over £10m, at present.

To be fair Gestede is good on the ground as well as in the air, very good scoring record to.

would rather go for him than the overrated Gomes,Gesstede is also four years younger than Gomes

A fair point but he is a much more of a proven goalscorer and I think a safer long term bet. Also Blackburn in serious financial trouble and a transfer embargo issue too so I think £8m could get him.

I have a good friend who follows Rovers and he says in recent weeks Gestede has been sulking, throwing his arms around and he is refusing to play this weekend(not clubs choice he reckons). Sounds like he could be a disruptive player to have around if he isn't playing.

They are different players too. Rhodes is a poacher whilst Gestede is far more of a phisical player which may suit us.

18 goals from his first season to last season and 24 goals this season, so is Gestede a one season wonder?? His record a Cardiff was terrible !!

So with his attitude issues, goalscoring past and Rhodes' far better record with no hint of discipline issues there is only one choice...

Blackburn rejected a £12m approach from Hull in the summer.

Assuming a similar fee, for a 24 year old who's never played in the top flight, I think it's a non-starter.

A good player undoubtedly, but for the kind of money, I find it impossible to justify.

Hmm, I don't know enough about him but someone is closing in on him because according to SSN earlier he was omitted from Blackburns squad today due to transfer interest ! Wonder if it's us ?

Given the attacking options we now have with Gayle, Sanogo, Murray, Campbell and Chamakh, I can see Gestede being brought in with a longer term view in mind.

Nothing wrong with his record at cardiff if you properly look at the stats , 55 appearances 7 goals , 45 being as a sub so discounting sub appearances as they are misleading as some could be for 3 minutes , he scored 7 goals in 10 starts. His overall record in the championship is 32 goals in 52 starts which is very good , especially as he is playing in an average side that doesn't play with proper wingers , he's quite quick for a big lad and very decent In the air , certainly a decent option and probably the most affordable.

You won't find a better striker in the air. With the good service he'll score goals. I agree it would be a 'long term' option. Murray is 31 and we don't have a target man. With long term in mind I think getting scott Sinclair too.

I think Gestede ad Taylor wouldrepresent great business. Personally, if we could add a goalscoring midfielder to te pot like thenmuch rumoured Shelvey, then would beperfect
